Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I had to work late and needed groceries very badly, after picking my son up, I went to my loacal Albertsons grocery store. Since it was late, I had not yet cashed my payroll check, but since I had bought groceries with my payroll check in the past, I told my son my plan. As I walked into my local Albertsons, I asked the first manager-type looking person that I saw and asked if I could buy groceris with my payroll check. He asked me how much my check was for and I told him the amount, but also that I had alot of groceries to buy. He told me that it would not be a problem.

So I proceeded to fill my shopping cart with $200.00 worth of groceries, etc. Put them all on the conveyer belt, even helped bag them too. The cashier was the same guy I spoke to when I first got to the store. I handed him my check after all the groceries were rung up, then he told me that he could not take it because it had a handwritten signature.

This was not true, but even so, what difference does it make how the check was signed? It was late, there were people in line behind me, and I said, "are you kidding me, you guys want to do $200 worth of go backs?" I work for a large company, we have branches all over the country and payroll is done in Houston TX, and since it was late, they had no way of verifying my company's existance, I said I could give him my office number and he could call and get our company directory to confirm its existance. He refused. I was so humiliated, and I had checked with this same guy when I first got there. It took quite a bit of time too, to fill my cart with that much stuff. I am so mad, I will never shop there

again, and I have a 6 member household, we spend alot on food. I will be giving my business to Vons, Ralphs & Stater Bros. from now on.

That was an Albertons policy when I worked there many years ago...it mainly had to do with the fact that we had absolutley NO technology to check bad checks, unlike most of the other major grocery chains. I would have thought that in 8 years since I quit there, they would have improved that, but I guess not. We used to have thousands of dollars in bad checks every month...I thought it was strange that they didn't invest in one of those check systems...they ended up breaking even or even a little bit ahead by collecting the fees that go with bad checks. That was one of my main jobs, harrassing folks with bad checks EVERY day without fail. It prepared me for a promising career in collections! Anyway, you're better off shopping somewhere else, anyway.
