Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I have bad credit and was contacted by a company called ACE (American Credit Educators) offering me a $400 credit card for $49.95 one-time fee, which would be charged to the card.

We had a half hour long discussion about the fact that they would send me a credit repair kit and the lady proceeded to get all the relevant information about me to process the account.

She then tells me she has to play this silly recording with all these disclaimer and basically everything she has already said, and then she would be back on the line to confirm my acceptance.

DURING THIS VERY BORING LITTLE MONOTONE RECORDING, THE INFORMATION SLIPPED OUT THAT THEY WOULD CHARGE ME $300 FOR JOINING ACE SERVICES. THIS WAS THE *ONLY* MENTION OF THIS CHARGE MADE, AND EVERY ATTEMPT HAD BEEN MADE TO DIVERT MY ATTENTION FROM HEARING IT.

I was outraged, but I politly verified this information with the woman when she came back on the line. I refused the card, at which point she haranged me for five minutes as to which this was my ONLY CHANCE to repair my credit.

Not quite one hour later my husband called me to tell me that this same company had called him at home. He was told that I had been approved for a card and they simply needed some information from him to complete the processing. He gave them the info and they said they would have the card out in a few weeks. I exploded all over the place, but we had no number to call, so we waited for the credit card to show up.

It did- in his name! After multiple phone calls and two letters the ACE membership was cancelled and we recieved a statment from the cedit card saying that the amount had been credited.

I still get bills for $0 from the credit card company, despite the that we have twice written them with a request to cancel the card. I suppose this means we got a credit card out of the deal? I am afraid to use it for fear of starting the whole mess again, but reluctant to tangle with them when they aren't charging me.

Wanted to send out a warning and vent about the practices of this company. Thanks!
