1 Stop Camera deceptive company Great Neck New York
I ordered a Canon digital camcorder from 1 Stop Camera, and payed to have it delivered in 2-3 days. The price was very reasonable.
One week, and a phone call later, the company contacted me. The represenative said that the order was on delay because he noticed that I ordered the "overseas" model, and that there were none in stock. He then went on to tell me that they had the domestic versions of the camera in-stock, and that they could ship me one out ASAP.
When I asked what the difference was, they told me that the model I ordered would not be covered under Canon's manufacture's warrantee. They said that was why the version I ordered was on sale.
I asked what it would cost to "upgrade" to a domestic version, and was told around $100. I agreed and had it charged to my card.
When the camera arrived, it was defective. When I spoke to Canon, they said the camera was not covered by the warrantee, because 1 Stop Camera is not an authorized Canon dealer.
When I contacted 1 Stop Photo, by e-mail, and by phone --there was no response.
I was ripped off on more than one front here. I highly recommend that everyone avoids this company.
