On 9/27/13 I made a confirmed reservation with the Wyndham Group 800 number for 8/2-3/13 for an important family function. After calling the same number before traveling, during and even in the lobby after being told they sold our room, we were assured we still had an active reservation! They "walked" us to a hotel 30 miles opposite our destination only to find out we were given the wrong directions! 4am lost and exhausted beyond measure in a  town that is totally asleep we call the hotel and she tries to give us directions over the phone which turned out all bad. We never find the place end up in a city even further and have to stop and try and get rest in our car. We end up back at our original hotel and they finally have a room at 11am by thus time we have been awake over 24 hrs. My husband is diabetic and so this whole incident gave him a serious setback we end up missing a whole day because we had to sleep and ended up missing our family event and pushed forward another family appt in a different city we were scheduled to be in which we ended up in another Wyndham Group hotel which cost $160 had a broken shower,bugs in the bathroom and an a/c system that I was forced ti get up every 30 mins and empty the reservoi! The rest of the trip my husband did not feel well and kept having to sleep which caused the extra hotel expense because we had to stop on our way home. I spoke with Robin Engraf at the Wyndham Group I was told nothing could be done to make things right since they don't control the hotels themselves. I spoke with the hotel the overbooking took place at and after much going back and forth they felt a $50 gift card would suffice. I have yet to receive that. Oh and after all this my husbans missed his birthday get together because of the trip being pushed forward into his day. We were scheduled to be home in the daytime if 8/6/13 but ended up home 8/8/13 sick and exhausted and about $400 over budget but feels more like  a thousands with the pain and suffering Wyndham Group put us tthrough and still because we have yet to pay this trip off. BTW this is just a bit of the story.
