On August 2, 2022 I paid $700 + $500 to Willow Glen Dental for a device to replace a chipped tooth. When I called earlier, Dr. Raoul Shah was quick to give me an appointment and stated that the tooth would nor support a crown and suggested a different approach, the cost of which would be over $2000.

I explained that I could not afford that amount as it far exceeded my life savings. He then suggested a “temporary” device at a cost of $1200. Since the previous owner, Dr. Sapana K. Kothary deceived my wife ending up in an overcharge which after much effort her insurance company recovered, my wife asked me to make sure of the total cost before proceeding. Dr shah stated the there would be a charge of $300 to extract the tooth and nothing more.  He presented me a form stating so.

He directed me that Willow Glen Dental Services to have the tooth extracted. On August 16, 2022 my wife and I walked to Willow Glen Dental Services as we were concerned that it may be dangerous for me to drive after the procedure and she would use her Lyft account for a ride home. We arrived. I presented the form that Dr. Shah had given me, but was told that it was not needed. We were then informed that the charge would be $1619.00

We were in a state of shock! Then my wife asked if they accepted Care Credit. They did, and she then signed the form to pay the $1619.00

If we were not in a state of shock, we likely would have reconsidered.  If my wife had not been there, I would have been unable to pay and would have left. That would have been fine with me, as the gap created by the cracked tooth was not that cosmetically distasteful to live with.

When I returned a few days later, I talked with Dr. Oz Simel. He told me that the device given to me by Dr. Shah needed repair and gave it back to me. I attempted to discuss how Dr. Shah had deceived me, but he was adamant in praising him (Dr. Shah) and insisted that he was an honorable person. When I showed him the proof (the document stating that the only other charge was for $300, I noticed that he exhibited a slight facial grimace.  It was apparent that he did not want to acknowledge the document at all!  I can’t help but come to the conclusion that they were playing Ping-Pong with both my teeth and my finances!

My wife is now seeking extra caregiver work to pay Care Credit debt. She will soon be 74 years old. Ever since, she has become severely depressed and nothing that I can do or say helps.

Once before in my life when I had all but lost hope, I suffered from high blood pressure and hypertension. It has now returned with a vengeance. I trust myself to do nothing right. Whenever I do anything regarding health or financial decisions, my blood pressure rises into the 160s. Since I have stage 4 kidney failure this is life threatening! I now take mt blood pressure every 2 hours, taking quinapril as I feel necessary. It has become the new normal. I fear having a stroke or kidney failure!

Dr Shah is a con man and liar! He will appear to be doing you a favor, but when you are in his grasp, he will do all possible to prescribe an approach that will be the most financially profitable to him.

I want to return the device “that needs repair” back to him for a refund. That way I can release some of the financial burden on my wife and her mental health. But I need someone, perhaps an attorney, to return it, as I will never, ever go near Dr. Shah again!!
