I currently work in a bank in New Jersey. One of my customers came in very upset about this company that debited his account without his permission. On the statement the company was listed as Travel Agent Net and the charge was for $149. He told me that he had gotten a telemarketing call on his cell phone (which is illegal in NJ!) and was talked into a free trial for a vacation club.

One day before his free trial expired, he cancelled his account. He had already given them his account and routing number. He found the charge on his statement (which was posted BEFORE his free trial had come close to expiring) and came in. We had him fill out an ACH Revocation form so he could get his money back in 2 days.

He was able to find information on this company through this website and found an 800 number he could call. He did this, but only got a recording. It offered him the choice to cancel his account, so he did. The next month there was a charge for $49.95 from Versa Talk. Through some research he found that this was the same company. Again he came to me and we filled out another ACH Revocation form.

He recently received another charge for $49.95 from Guardian Market...which is the SAME company. I filled out the form again, only this time I highly recommended that he close his account and open a new one. He did.

I'm writing this warning because I want people to know what they should do from the bank's perspective. You MUST fill out an ACH Revocation form if the charge is prefaced with an AC or ACH on your statement (it would be before the name of the company.) You only have 45 days from the date the charge is posted to do this. They will deduct your account this way if you gace them your routing and checking account number. If you gave them a debit card number, you would need to fill out a Regulation E form. The charge would appear as a credit/debit card transaction (possibly ckcrd or ckcd debit) on your statement. You only have 60 days from the daet you received your statement to fill out this form.

If you gave this company your debit or credit card number, immediately cancel it and get a new one. If you gave them your routing and checking account number, you should IMMEDIATELY close your account and open a new one. This company is able to continue debiting because it debits under a different name every month, making it impossible for your bank to be able to stop them without knowing what the charge will appear under next.

Please note, you should NEVER EVER give checking or savings account information over the phone to an unverified company. Your bank will work with you, but you have to understand that we will be taking the loss for your mistake.
