The phone plan my husband and I signed up for in 2011 was for three phone lines - one for each of us and one for his brother. The third phone was stolen in April of 2012. We called and reported the phone stolen; Sprint informed us we would be charged $8.99/mo on that phone for the duration of the contract (in place of the normal $67.39 for the phone line) unless it was recovered. No other details were provided. Our bill was around $150/mo at that point for the two lines and the $8.99 charge. Our contract ended in October of this year (2013).

Our last bill was for $228.67; $67.39 higher than the bills had we had gotten in the last year - we were now being charged again for the third phone line that was stolen. I called Sprint to get an explanation. They informed me that "Seasonal Hold" (what they register a stolen or lost phone) has a cap of six months, which they tack onto the end of your contract; for some reason, the third phone line for us had been on Seasonal Hold for 18 months.

This was "over looked by our systems, a glitch", which the manager I spoke with (Tom) explained to me has been an issue for them in the last year that they are "working on". This tacked 18 months onto the end of the contract for that individual phone line; our other two lines ended their contracts October 2013. Tom informed me that there was nothing to be done to get out of this contract extension, regardless of the fact that I did not sign any new contract or give my consent. It will cost me $320 to terminate the line. He offered me a $50 credit to be split in $25 increments on my next two bills, but that's "the best that can be done".

They have a history of ignoring their own customers...

At least they talked to you, I found they have ignored almost all the customers that filied a complaint against them, which means your paying to be ignored! The cellular companies know once they get you into a contract your trapped and their meager attempts to correct their existing problem, they hook new customers in with great deals but leave their existing customers simply out of luck and ignore you to boot! Look at their F rating http://www.businessconsumeralliance.org/Reviews/Telephone-Communications-Service/Sprint-PCS-in-Overland-Park-KS-13111779

Its a real shame when technology resourses are abused!
