I purchased Kingsdown mattress 7 +/- years ago from Sleepys in Verona, NJ. I spent almost 2 grand on the mattress. The salesman at Sleepys told me that Kingsdown was one of the best and it was worth the extra money because they were quality mattresses. He told me that if anything was wrong with the mattress, Kingsdown would stand by product and replace it. The mattress came with a cover. According to the salesman, it would protect it from anything. About 3.5 years ago I started to hear springs popping if I rolled around in the middle of the mattress. A little over a year ago, my arms have started falling asleep at night. In the last year my shoulders have started hurting if I sleep on my side. I tend to cuddle with my wife a lot. Lately the mattress has started to sag so much that my back is killing me. Finally I thought I would go to Sleepys and get another mattress. I remembered what they said about the warranty so while I was there, I asked them about it.

He told me that if there are any stains on the mattress that they might not warranty the mattress. He told me that the original cover was not as good as their new one I thought nothing of that. He told me that their old covers didn't work and I should purchase one of their new ones which were made and backed by NIKE. The salesman told me that Kingsdown were having problems around the time I bought my mattress. Anyway, I decided I wasn't sure about Kingsdown because so I decided to put my store credit(for the warranty) towards a Serta. They were on sale and same spiel about warranty etc....

The mattress inspector came to my house and took pictures of the mattress and put something in the middle to measure the sag. There was a noticeable sag in the mattress and I showed him the thing with the springs popping. He wasn't concerned with the noise and only seemed interested in the depth of the sag and wanted me to lighten up the room and turn on all the lights so he could get really good pictures of the condition of the surface of the mattress. Sleepy's called me today and told me that there were "Stains" on mattress and that my mattress warranty was void. Well, it doesn't look stained under normal light and I used their cover! Apparently "stains" cause the mattress to sag and the springs to pop.

Anyway, they say you get what you pay for. If what you're paying for is a Kingsdown at Sleepys, you're paying for a cheap mattress at quality mattress prices.

Sleepys offered me a deal on another mattress. I don't really see the point. I'm sure I can "get a deal" at more reputable place. Even if I can't, I'd rather pay full price than be mislead.
