Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

My father who's over 70 years old went to buy a new 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz. The sales person did not mentioned that the car was being sold with a $3,000.00 markup allegedly because of the chip shortage. My father wasn't aware that the price went up from an MSRP of $32,000.00 as listed on their website to $35,000.00 before dealer fees and taxes. At the finance desk against my father's verbal request, they added on their own will over $1,800 of additional services and protection packages.

Now the total loan amount is close to $5,000.00 more expensive lacking total transparency on how it got to that total. Even with excellent credit they pushed a loan from a federal credit union bypassing a lower rate offer available from Hyundai itself. No loan paper work to confirm what he signed was provided violating the Truth in Lending Act. The dealer alledges that a flash drive was provided with the loan documents. No flash drive was actually nor physically provided.

We went the next day to discuss the deal and possibly either cancel or change the vehicle for another model of the same price range. The manager was rude and indiferent. He said that once my father drove the car out the lot it was his problem. In reality the car was not driven out the lot by my father but instead driven form the dealer to his home by the salesman who sold the car. To add insult to injury, my father was unaware that GAP insurance was included. He had no documents to confirm what he just signed.

The finance person took an additional $1,060 from my father to add GAP insurance to a car that already had it. To bypass the system, the finance person added the extra money to the down payment to appear that the down payment was $1,060 more than the original amount. By doing that he altered a loan document already signed under different terms. He handed us a flash drive in the shape of a key with the loan document.

It's not until I got home that I learned of they took advantage of my father. Now he's stuck with an overpriced car, services he never agreed to and a loan for a higher rate than he would have easily qualified. Rick Case Hyundai is a dealer that should be avoided at all cost. Unethical sales practices and total disregard to Federal Government regulations pertaining to lending.
