Progressive insurance is a rip-off. I went to get my car washed on a Sunday in Silver Spring, Maryland. The car wash was understaffed that day. The attendant operating the car wash was multitasking, holding the sign to instruct me and spraying the black SUV in front of me. The attendant sign requires cars when to enter, stop, and place in neutral. Normally, the attendant ensures the Vehicle is secure on the belt after the stop and then instructs you to keep the car neutral. I believe the attendant instruction coordination was misplaced that day because he was doing too much. I have been going to the same car wash for a few years, and no incident like this has ever happened.

After exiting the car wash, I parked beside the SUV, and the SUV called the police to report the accident. The police instructed us to change the required information and report it to our insurance companies. At first, I called Progressive Insurance. When I finally got someone to report the accident, the female took my information and disconnected me. I waited for a callback but no one called. I then submitted the report on the Progressive website and included pictures of both vehicles. Several days later, I got a threatening email from Taylor Williams that I must participate in an insurance Investigation. I called the number that she included in the email.

I introduced myself then she claimed that I did not report the accident. I gave her the claim number that I originally got. Without an apology, Ms. Williams found that the deletion of my claim was on their side. After that, she expressed to me in an aggressive, dismissive manner and tone that I was at fault because my car hit the SUV in the back. I asked how did you come to that conclusion without my input. She claims she did not need it because it was an automatic fault. She kept her aggression towards me while I tried to get a word in. I then told her to wait a minute and demanded that she not talk to me in that manner. I asked when you did examine because no one contacted me. I wondered if you reached the car wash, and she said no. I asked her, " Do you realize that there are three elements to this issue: the SUV, my car, and the car wash? The car wash, at one point, is quasi-control of my Vehicle as I am under the full direction of the car wash attendant. It felt like I was talking to the other party's insurance company instead of mine. Finally, I said I needed to speak to a supervisor. To cut a long story short, they switched me from one supervisor to another. The last supervisor shared the same abuse as Ms. Williams. I asked if they had contacted the car wash, and they said they tried a few times but couldn't get anyone to respond. I asked them if they sent a FedEx mail, and he said no. They stated that the burden of proof was on me and was indifferent.

I told the rude supervisor that I had insurance while he was still in the womb. I maintained a license for 49 years and have not dealt with this level of disrespect from any other insurance company. No one from Progressive Insurance made an appointment to examine my car. To add insult to injury, Progressive Insurance raised my policy by over $948 per year. In contrast, the claim was $1019. The accident is my first accident insured by Progressive Insurance. The customer service is much to be desired, and the increase is a Rip-Off.
