The only reason I agreed to try PrivacyGuard is that the telemarketer-like customer service rep. at Citibank WOULDN'T STOP FREAKING TALKING, TALKING, TALKING, TALKING until I gave in, and also supposedly because I could drop the service after the free trial period if I wanted to do so. Well, it turns out it's not quite that simple.

I just received my credit card bill for January, and there's another monthly charge for PG, two weeks after I called and told PrivacyGuard I was dropping them. I'll probably be contacting whichever departments in the state governments of Wisconsin and Connecticut that deal with consumer fraud, and I may even drop Citibank as my credit card company for this outrage.

I see that the fraudulent billing class-action lawsuit of which I learned elsewhere on the Internet is fully justified, because what I am experiencing is essentially a form of fraudulent billing, IMHO.

Once the consumer protection people from the State of Wisconsin contacted them, they not only said they will stop charging my card, they also refunded the money charged since the free trial period ended, which I certainly didn't expect. This will be a lesson to me to be far more assertive in saying "NO" to agressive sales pitches over the phone.
