Took 2009 HHR in for oil change and to check a noise that began after last visit when they replaced an axle seal. I have been going there for almost 20 years, but no more.

First mechanic (tall, personable black man) rode with me and heard the noise over the noise of the tires. Then he took the other mechanic who came back saying it was just a rubbing noise made from the cupped tires. The sound is a scratching or clicking noise heard by the other mechanic and a friend who rode with me... I tried to explain this and he got an attitude and stomped back into the garage area saying "I'm not going to argue about it".

Then I get home and see on the receipt "Antifreeze is low"... nobody topped it off or mentioned it. Also said no wiper blade on rear, but it is there and works fine, does not need replacement (is he blind and deaf?) also said the front ones were in need of replacing. They work like new, were replaced not long ago and it was raining today so I know.

First time I took the HHR in the same mechanic told me I needed power steering fluid, then later he told me, "oh, this has electronic power steering and doesn't use fluid", so OK he should know his vehicles but I can overlook not knowing everything about all of them but my issue is how could he say the fluid was low? There is no fluid to check = scam again.

So I complained a little to the girl at the front desk who was supposed to have a manager call me back. Well I know people around town and in speaking to another garage later found out she is the wife of the mechanic with the attitude.

They also previously gave me an estimate to fix the tire wear. Tires, alignment, front struts, rear shocks amounting to about $1600. Well, after all this I went to another shop who looked things over and said I do not need new shocks or struts.

UPDATE: 4-5-18 took the car to a dealership mainly for tires. They found that the axle seal that these guys installed on 4-3-17 is leaking and has to be replaced. I recall them having some problems getting it fitted... it actually took 2 of them and they had to use a 2X4 to get it in. Please, whatever you do do NOT think you are saving any money going here.

Beware, they are selling you things you don't need
