Pep Boys Shoddy work, deceptive & fraudulant charges. They are scammers & liars Elmont New York
I went in for an oil change & a wheel alignment, I was told that there were problems with my car that required 750.00 worth of work, They said I have a bad tie rod & ball joints. I said no to the repairs, the front desk man that helped me named Nirwan offered me deals in order to get the work done but I said no again. About 20 min later he came to me again and told me that the rack and pinion boot wasnt properly secured and that they needed to use a torch to take it off etc.. because according to him whoever worked on it last didnt do a good job & that in order for him to put it back on he said he's gonna have to charge me 230.00, I said no and asked him if he could put everything back the way it was. He then cut the price in half to 115.00 for the labor, stressing that it took alot of work to get it off because it was damaged. I believed him and gave it to him. He then asked if I still wanted an alignment & I said yes that, thats what I came in there for, thinking that the problems with the tie rod & ball joints werent related to the alignment because Nirwan asked me if I still wanted it leading me to believe it wasnt related, othewise why would they offer to do it? After they were done, I then took it to someone else about the other problems Nirwan told me about and they plus another expert said that Pep Boys shouldnt have done the alignment to begin with & that you cant get a proper alignment with the ball joints bad. Nirwan knew this, but offered the service anyway. I had to get another alignment at another mechanics 2 days later and also the mechanic told me the 115.00 charge to put the rack & pinion boot wasnt true. Nirwan is a scam artist and thief!! And wasnt gonna let me leave unless he got my money. I contacted headquarters for a refund of the 225.13 that was fraudulantly taken from me and Im waiting for their call as I type. I told them I was going to sue them for fraud. On Yelp there are so many bad reviews about this location that Im not only stunned that Nirwan is still employed there but that there hasnt been in investigation into this, which leads me to believe the entire Pep Boys brand is a racket. They are ripping people off left & right. And the mere fact that headquarters didnt fire this guy or at least send a team there to stop this behavior to there brand speaks volumes. I am not going to just take the refund(if they give it to me) and go away, the sheer volume of people being scammed is disgraceful and I want to do everything I can to stop them.

Headquarters contacted me back, they had contacted the store, the store manager called me and refunded me the money.
