I would advise users to be very wary of purchasing Pacific Bells DSL service since they provide NO SERVICE should your area become to conjested or put bluntly - oversold. I live in an area where DSL was not popular a year and a half ago. However that is no longer true.

I find that I have no internet access every night during peak hours of 8:30pm to 11:00 pm (at least). When I notified Pacific Bell, they just give you the old "try turning the modem off" line. Which never fixes the problem nor would I expect it too. If you complain that this has been going on for months and they should refund part of the cost they just tell you that they never promised "uninterrupted" service. I can agree with that, but every night for 3 1/2 months the same 4 hours is not interrupted service -- it's non-existent or not available for that time period.

Basically I would warn prospective users to go with another vendor since your area will probably conjest too and then you too will lack internet access and have no way of getting any kind of assistance (they aren't going to invest the money in the equipment needed.)

i recently had pacific bell dsl installed in my home also, and am in total agreement with the letter i just read! i rarely have a stable enough connection to even play games online. the customer service always gives me the turn the modem on and off also! my regular phone line is even very staticky since i got it. i am very unsatisfied.
