Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I have been paying for a purchase of approximately $1500 worth of furniture at Levitz Furniture in Seattle, Washington for nearly four years. The billing statement still says, "Levitz Furniture" but the payments go to Retail Services in City of Industry, California. My research led me to discover that this is Household Retail Services of Rip-off Report infamy.

My story is the same old one: the interest rate is 26% - unbelievable even in the WORST economic conditions! I am assessed late fees in excess of $50, even when I pay on time! The statement shows the billing cycle is 30 days, yet they call me at work to harrass me that I am late, even though what the CSR on the phone tells me I owe is different than what is on the statement! The billing date seems to change from one month to the next.

I pay and I pay, yet after four years, I now owe $2500 on my $1500 purchase! Somebody explain THAT math to me!

If there was a way I could send this furniture back to them, I would. It's worn and in need of replacing - but I owe more than I originally paid for it. What do I do??

When I tell Customer Service about these discrepancies, they act as though I haven't spoken. I've told them multiple times, at least 4 times, NOT to call me at work. They have my home number and my cell number, yet they persist in calling me at work. I know this, among all the other things they do, is illegal.

Please tell me how to get this company off my back! I do not have $2500 to pay off this bill, even if I was so inclined. I was ruined financially by their parent company, Household Finance, recently when they repossessed my home, which also was financed with them. It wasn't until a month ago, I found out I was ironically dealing with the same company on the furniture debacle.

My best advice to anyone reading this is: DO NOT EVER finance a purchase unless you are absolutely certain who the lender is. If your account should be sold by a good lender to HRS, immediately find another finance company, or if possible, pay it off instead. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH Household Retail Services, they are a total RIP-OFF!!
