I am a qualified, knowledgeable jewelry salesperson with GIA courses to my credit. I have a proven track record in jewelry sales, as my references attested to. I can classify a diamond a mile away, so to speak. Problem was, Helzberg was told by my previous employer that I was a natural closer who needed little management and functioned well on my own. One would think these attributes w ould be very desirable traits, but but not with Helzberg. During one of three interviews by Helzberg, the manager mumbled something about how the top producers are the hardest to manage. I should have known at that point I was wasting my time, that this company's managers seek only to micromanage underlings and get part of the commission for 'helping to close' the sale. I obviously was not going to fit this paradigm, as I am able to close 95% of my sales and want 100% of my commission. During the second interview with the District Manager, the man became so uptight, noxious  and dictatorial about employees 'doing it the company's way' that I was sure he was going to take his shoe off and bang it on the table. I choked back the desire to flee, as I really need a job and things are awfully tight here in Northwest Houston. The third interview with a sophomoric assistant manager was set up to determine my 'fit' with the company. End of story, I got the news that I didn't fit and someone else was hired. During my three visits to this location, I only saw what appeared to be Hispanics working there, except for the manager. They were also all under the age of thirty.I am non-Hispanic, over thirty, blonde, and frighteningly competent. I cannot believe these companies are getting away with these hiring practices. It is just hurting so many people. Seems they only want slaves they can control and who will not threaten their jobs by being better than them! Makes me wonder if a job was really available or if they were going on a fishing expedition to collect resumes for their extremely high turn over store at Willowbrook Mall in Houston Texas.

Also, their inventory was so-so run of the mill. Make him go to Jared.

I read nothing describing discrimination - Although your report was well written it was hard to read because of the lack of paragraphs -

If you are truly a Qualified jewerly salesperson then you could get a job at a better store than Helzbergs

Hello, after reading your complaint, I must assume the only person with some problems is you...how come can you say the people in there are HISPANICS? or they look HISPANICS and therefore you assume you are the minority in there?.....is that relevant?...they could be american indians or native alaskans as well...!!
I am Cherokee Indian and I feel discriminated with your comments!
