Helzberg Diamonds Credit Services SCAM! Independence Missouri
My husband bought me a new wedding band for Valentines day for a little over $1000 over a year ago. He was approved for their credit card with 12 months 0 interest. We started making payments but we noticed that every monthly bill had accrued interest.
We spoke with Helzberg EVERY single month we got an incorrect bill. We got poor customer service to say the least. No one really knew what to do for us, or if they did, they didn't help us. We got the run-around and we spoke to numerous managers and all of them told us the problem would be taken care of, and our account would show our correct balance. It wasn't and it didn't.
It wasn't until a fairly knowledgeable man (although this isn't saying much since their credit service is just pathetic in the IQ department) from their credit service, HSBC, called us that we learned there was a confirmation code we needed in order to "activate" the 12 months/0 interest on our account. We were told no such thing by our sales rep or by any of the representatives we spoke with month after month. He calculated our debt and asked us to pay $146 to settle the account and the problems would go away. We were so fed up and ready to move on from this hassle that we went ahead and paid.
Now, well after 12 months and well after we've paid off the total, they're STILL calling us asking for money. It's RIDICULOUS! In fact, today, I got 5 calls from them (starting at 8 am... on a Saturday) and finally got fed up and talked to the idiot on the other line. "Mark" (after butchering the pronounciation of our last name in broken english and mistaking my husband for a girl...) tried telling me we owed $90 and that it was perfectly legal to call us on a Saturday.
I told him not to call us again (especially on a weekend as it's against the Fair Collections Act) and I'd be discussing this matter with my husband and our attorney. The idiot still tried to get information in order to get some form of payment but I wasn't having any of it.
DO NOT buy from Helzberg. They're just a bunch of annoying little scam artists looking for your money and they don't care if they screw you over or harass you. From now on, I'm going to private jewelers and not these morons!
