I purchased a power, leather, pit group on 1/05/08 for $2,499. I see your tv add stating that you had a special $100 off on pit groups or entertainment centers. Plus you would not charge the sales tax. I took delivery of my pit group last Wednesday 1/30/08.

I returned to the Aurora, IL store to get a refund of the $100 plus sales tax. I discussed it with my original Salesman, Ramie, who infomed me that I had received the current sales price when I made my purchase due to Harlem raising the price $100 since my purchase less than one month earlier. I question the ethics of this price change and rebate but, I understood his explanation. However, I questioned the refund of the sales tax since your guarantee states if the consumer finds it in your add or a competitors add for less money within 30 days you would match the price. Ramie said he would have to discuss it with the store manager. The store manager said he could not refund the sales tax but would provide me an inconvience refund of $50.00 and was closed minded to my inquiry. I told the store manager that I am a pricing manager and if one of my customers presented me this situation that I would honor the price that I was offering new customers. He then responded that I purchased the pit group over a month ago and I responded that it was not a month as today is the 3rd of February and I purchased the pit group on January 5th. I asked if he would refund the $150.00 delivery charge and he responded, NO!He told Ramie okay give him a $75.00 inconvenience refund. I'm not stupid, but was insulted by his crass behavior. I told him that I accept the $75.00 however, I will be contacting the corporate office.

I believe that I was entitled to no less than the full refund of my sales tax, $195.20. It has been proven that a disgruntled customer voices their complaint to no less than 10 people who also pass it on to people with whom they discuss furniture and so on. Is it worth Harlems reputation and loss of customers for making good on something you had advertised?

I will await your response before considering filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
