General Motors All of my airbags expolded at once, causing burns on face and neck also causing an accident. Detroit Michigan
In October of 2012 My wife was diriving home from a doctor visit. She was driving about 25 PMH when all of the airbags in our 2008 Trailblazer exploded and deployed. This blinded her vision and she ended up hitting the car in front of her.When the police arrived they actually gave her a ticket because she was driving a car with the airbags deployed. Unbelieveable.
The car was towed to a body shop for repairs. They said that they could tell us why this happened by examining the onboard computer. The next day they called back and said they wouldn't tell us what the computer said, but they had never seen anything like it before. They had to remove my entire roof to replace the airbags.
I called General Motors several times about the issues and reported it to the National Highway Safety Administration. General Motors asked if I had the computer and I told them I did not. The body shop replaced the defective computer and never told me what they did with it.
On Novemerber 15 2012, General Motors wrote back to me and said "At this time, based on all documentation received and reviewed, ESIS, on behalf og General Motors LLC, will not be in a position to honor your request for damages".
Shortly thereafter I started having even more electrical problems, warning bells chiming for no reason, warning lights on the dashboard would come on for no reason. My wife would not drive in that vehicle again. To add insult to injury, I traded the Trailblazer in for another car. They gave me $5000 less than I should have received for the same vehicle but didn't because the Carfax showed that ny car was involved in a front end collision causing the airbags to deploy. I couldn't win.
