After reading numerous GM complaints and spending over 2 weeks with GM customer care case number 71-1277824944 and filing a complaint with NHTSA  ODI # 10566568 I have given up! I own a 2005 GMC Sierra and I am the only owner! So called Mr. Goodwrench is the only person to work on my vehicle. The truck has 43500 miles when without warning of any ABS light or prior brake issue, I was driving to pick up my kids traveling 45 mph when the brakes went out, I had to apply the ebrake and luckily came to a stop and returned home without incident. Come to find out GMC states it is corrosion/rust, I work in the auto industry and many of my family members are retired GM plant and admin workers and devoted GM loyalists.  I thought for sure GM would stand behind a safety related product, but after speaking with GM customer I don't care representatives Lysette, Maria, Kristen, Derek, & Aubrey last names and emails unknown as they will not provide, they say GM is doing nothing.  Strange that I don't live in the NE and don't drive the vehicle everyday! However, again GM's position is that it is not a safety issue and the single brake line corroded/rusted out is not a inferior product/brake line and simply rusted due to the elements, funny nobody at GM wants to view my photos of the one rusted line and the others that are not! GM customer service is lip service and they do not care nor will they or anyone else that works with GM admit or accept the fact the brake lines that GM put on my truck and countless others are inferior! So, I will pay my local GM dealer the customary GM go screw yourself charge for MR GOODWRENCHS handy work and non resolution of a safety product defect that GM accepts no responsibility for. As with all else I will fight the charges as MR GOODWRENCH stated he was working with GM customer I don't care service to get things covered only to later stick me with the bill without any written repair cost estimate or agreement with me to complete the work.  Thus, leading me on to believe GM was taking care of the problem. I will send this issue to BBB on GM and the dealer in Florida and the only GM product you will ever see in my driveway will be owned by someone else and I will definitely let them know about GM products.

the Federal Reserve, according to information that is available on the web. You can 'Google' this- WHO OWNS THE FED?, and go to the 'save-a-patriot' website and you will see that General Motors is listed in Chart 3.

WELCOME TO GENERAL MOTORS- ONE BIG DEFECT THAT IS PART OF A BIGGER DEFECT THAT ULTIMATELY CONTROLS THE DEFECTIVE U.S. GOVERNMENT AND THAT OTHER BIG DEFECT CALLED WALL STREET

When do you take responsibility for the maintenance of your own vehicle?

I don't understand how you think that a manufacturer is responsible for vehicle maintenance for nine years after the manufacturer date. The warranty is for 3 years and has specific covered items. As pointed out earlier you are 6 years beyond your written warranty. Your expectations are outrageous by any standard.

I am not defending the manufacturer. I want to know at what point do you take responsibility for the repair and maintenance of your vehicle? This is not a manufacturer issue, it is an owner issue. You failed to maintain your vehicle adaquately and endangered everyone else on the road. It doesn't matter who makes a vehicle, there is not an unlimited lifetime warranty. If you take care of the things you own, you wouldn't have these type of issues.

Feel free to 'Google' this- SAFETY GROUP: 303 DEATHS TIED TO GM RECALL, and read the related articles that recently became available on the web. It appears that General Motors is much like some of the other auto manufacturers who are producing defective vehicles these days.

It also appears that General Motors and Toyota like to hide information from their customers in an attempt to save money from fixing the problems. You see, it is less expensive for an auto manufacturer to pay out a handful of claims to those who have been injured rather than fixing the problems. You can 'Google' this- WHISTLEBLOWER: TOYOTA-GM PLANT HID DEFECTS, and read the related articles on the web.

Good luck to you!

“I was driving to pick up my kids traveling 45 mph when the brakes went out, I had to apply the ebrake and luckily came to a stop and returned home without incident.”

You endangered the lives of others by continuing to operate the vehicle even though you knew the brakes didn’t work.

“I thought for sure GM would stand behind a safety related product”

Your vehicle is six years beyond the 3-year/36,000 mile warranty. Loyalty does not grant you free service on an out of warranty product.

Your vehicle is NINE years old.  Why would GM be obligated to fix it for free?
