My car was VANDALIZED in September. I filed a report, only to find that when the rep from geico who transferred my insurance, he DID NOT transfer the $0 deductible as I had requested. Geico investigated the issue, found that I HAD INDEED asked for the $0 deductible, but didn't pay out the remainder of my vandalism claim until almost two months after the damage. This caused me to have to make the repair myself. My car was vandalized AGAIN in NOVEMBER, and I reported it to the police and to Geico Immediately. It is now OVER A MONTH from when I made the report and I have heard nothing about paying my claim, HOWEVER, they ave sent multiple investigators to my home. I have asked that they repair the damage to my car, including repairing the job I HAD TO DO MYSELF due to their horrible service. Instead of the service I PAY A VERY LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR MONTHLY, they have so far refused to pay me in a timely manner, have sent investigators to look at my car, had my car inspected twice, and NOT GOTTEN BACK TO ME AT ALL. I am trying to work with them, but the lack of customer service is infuriating. I cannot reasonably be expected to continue to make monthly payments to a company that doesn't do as I pay for. I AM THEIR CUSTOMER and have been for about a decade, now. I think I may need to call a lawyer, and I AM DEFINITELY finding a new insurance company. HELP!!!!!

I had Geico for years, no claims. Started dating someone, we lived together, so we combined our insurance. Yes, I had a $0 deductible. The person I was dating and I parted ways, so I transferred my part of the policy back into my name only. The problems started when the rep who handled my account gave me a $500 deductible when I had asked for $0 just like the way I had it. Would it look that suspicious if you had all the details, such as I have never filed a claim before. I have 3 vehicles on the policy, and of the three, the one I have a claim on is paid off, and also has almost 200k miles on it? Why would anyone file a fake claim that will result in nothing more than a paint job on a car with so little value? I also have a corvette on the policy, that I still owe 25k on...... has less miles....and a Chevy Silverado, as well. With all of that info, can you see why it would be silly to assume? Not Only that, but shouldn't these folks return my calls? And shouldn't it only take a couple of days..... NOT TWO MONTHS???

Two insurance claims in such a short time is out of the ordinary and puts you into a higher risk category. To insurance companies a higher risk also means higher chance of fraud.  There is nothing to indicate you aren't being honest, but from their perspective they must do additional checking to make sure that the claim is legitimate. In addition to the time between claims, the amount, and circumstances can also increase their scrutiny. You would be very hard pressed to

find an insurance company that wouldn't be doing just about the same thing.

The strange thing here is you said you have been with them for about a decade, but in the very first part of your post you stated that the agent did not transfer you $0 deductible when they transfered your insurance? GEICO does policies in 6 months incriments so when and why did they did you transfer this policy?

As for changing insurance companies. Keep in mind that when you change insurance companies the new one will very likely request a claims history and information on your previous company. Once they find out you have had two claims in a short time, if they even insure you it will be at a higher rate due to the now higher perceived higher risk than you would have been getting.

From the company perspective, you are a very high risk customer. The reason is that the time between the first and the second vandalisms aren't far apart. There are many reasons why the investigation is carried out. They may want to be sure that 1) your car was really damaged the second time (not trying to claim on the same damage twice), 2) what possibly happened that led to vandalism on the same car, 3) how safe your neighbor is, and 4) you were not trying to take advantage of insurance claim.

You may not be able to get a car insurance next at the same rate you are getting now. I am not even sure if they would keep you due to this kind of incidents. Even though it is not your fault, there must be something going on that your car keeps getting damaged. However, that's your job to investigate.

I don't really see this report as a rip off.
