Eric C Faber, is a serial con artist with a 25+ year VERIFIABLE criminal history. He has spent time in jail for operating without a contractor license in the state of California.

HE CLAIMS HE IS A LICENSED REALTOR, HE IS NOT. HIS LICENSE BECAME INACTIVE SEPTEMBER 16, 2019 ACCORDING TO THE IDAHO REALESTATE COMMISSION.

His activities here in Idaho mirrored the exact same con he had been pulling for 20 years in California! Court cases on record with convictions connected to Eric Carl Faber use language like “Felony Burglary, Embezzlement and Fraud” to describe his activities dating as far back as 1999!

Regarding his construction contractor and design businesses, Mr. Faber’s typical con is to bid a job extremely low promising a short-term turn around (that he knows is impossible). Despite the fact that he was convicted of working as a contractor without a license in California, he does currently have an active contractor license in Idaho, though it appears that his company is not bonded as he claimed in emails related to a remodel project at 823 E Pine Ave in Coeur d’Alene.  his license and insurance had lapsed prior to starting the project resulting in his crew working on your property for many days while uninsured and his company not licensed or bonded. He also claims that he is a licensed designer, but this is a significant misrepresentation because he actually uses his wife Deborah Donnelly Faber’s design license in California. This is verified information.

His mode of operation is to have the client wire money into his account at the beginning of the project with a predetermined work scope. Then the work scope increases significantly. He then claims that the job is going to cost more than expected... and he needs more money. Clients typically cooperate and send more money. Soon after, little to no work gets done. Materials don’t get ordered, and he does not pay his crew for the work that did get done. They typically walk off the job. He blames the laborers or subcontractor(s) then proceeds to abandon the project all together claiming that he is entitled to keep the funds already paid by the client. He accounts for every penny and claims he has receipts but when pushed to show evidence, he never produces anything other than a bunch of emails that fain cooperation until the client abandons any hope of recovering a substantial portion of the funds due them.

Well let's consider the facts and actually what happened as a result of this complaint

I was just made aware of this report so I am responding now.

This report was filed by an ex business associate and girlfriend, Heide Hershly.  She is very nice person but has admitted brain issues and certainly was disgruntled at the time.  It unfortunate that people threaten to write negative social media postings and reviews and that so many are filled with inaccuracies or done out of spite.

As far as being a convicted felon, that just isn’t true.  I have never been convicted of a felony and could not have the real estate and contracting licenses I do if I had.  A simple FBI background check can confirm she is not correct and the California contractors report posted is in error and has been corrected.

As far as being a Califonia Contractor as cited in this complain, that had something to do with a California contractor, Bruce Frazier.  We had a design build company where he was the Licensed General Contractor of records and I was just a member of the LLC. Because he had some contracting issues everyone in the company was deemed liable and cited for any complaint that was for contracting issues.  I was not the General Contractor, he was.  Bruce settled any issues for contracting work separately, individually and I was never involved or penalized.

Nevertheless, the clients of ours she is posting about have never taken any action at all because after providing them a thorough accounting with every darn receipt they realized every dollar paid was spent on their job.  While we intended to get carpet and appliances as Heide states in her complaint, we ended up using those funds for other remodeling work that they client decided to do first  and we cancelled the appliances and carpet that were on order.  It’s all well documented.  Heidi was just their realtor (as was I) but she had no involvement in the contracting or access to any records.  So, this was all just made up in her mind.

Not only did Heide file this report, but she filed a complaint with the State of Idaho District Attorney office and the State of Idaho Contractors Board.   As a result, I was thoroughly investigated and interviewed.  I was asked to provide all bank, tax records and receipts for this project and I did. In the end, both the DA’s office and the State Contracting Board decided I had done nothing wrong whatsoever and apologized and complimented me on having such thorough and accurate records.  I had a receipt for every dime spent down to the penny.

A simple search or phone call to these State officed would lead you to find out no action was taken against me or my licenses whatsoever and I am in perfect standing with dozens of jobs under my belt in Idaho.

I am proud that over a 25+ year history of design, staging, building and remodeling over 1.200 homes and businesses that I have only had about 5 complaints.  Some said our staging design caused their homes not to sell, some were remodel clients who didn’t expect the incremental costs of work due to discovery of unforeseen damage to their home which only could have been discovered once demo took place…. and others were just wealthy litigious people who went after dozens of workers and contractors, including us, on their project.

Design and contracting are fraught with problems. Contractors often have to take responsibility for the work of others they have no control over and some clients get emotional over design decisions and angered over escalating costs that are just part of the remodel process.  Contractors are often blamed and we deal with these client emotions all the time.

I am not a felon.  After being investigated by the Idaho Real Estate Board, District Attorney, and the Idaho Contractors Board (Occupational Licenses) I was found to have done nothing wrong and all my licenses are active and clean with no reports of any wrongdoing or disciplinary action.  There have been no lawsuits filed against me by any clients in Idaho as suggested and I have never had to seek representation because I did nothing wrong.

As for being a licensed real estate agent in Idaho, I am.  While I was active with agencies for a couple years as a Realtor, today I consult and, while my license is current as required, I am not Active as an Agent. This is another example of Heidi confused things...the difference between an Active and Inactive agent.  An Inactive Agent is still licensed.

Again, there is no record in any state of "Felony Burglary, Embezzlement, and Fraud" related to me.  Check for yourself or have any law enforcement agency check it for you.

This was all a matter of not understanding the business, misinformation and someone who had a unfortunate brain issue that was disgruntled with our personal and business relationship.  I have not even taken any action against her for slander or false information as I know the truth and understand how she got false information or drew conclusions as she did.

As for using my wife's design license in California, we are married and she does not have a design license, I have the formal design affiliation, not her. So this indeed not verified information.

We have both moved on and have not missed a beat and continue to work hard on behalf of our clients. We haven’t spoken in many years.

I am more than happy to answer any questions or provide any information necessary.
