E-machines, Gateway e-machines will not honor warranty because serial number is too faded to read. I have a receipt. Ripoff Irvine California
I purchased an emachine laptop from walmart in February, 2006. They advertise a full year manufacturer's warranty. I had a warranty issue recently and called e-machines. They asked for the serial number, I turned over my laptop and looked for the serial number. It was WAY too faded to read. It was put on with what looked like a cheap light paint. They said they could not help me without the serial number and I was to contact walmart and get the serial number from them. Highly suspicious that Walmart does not keep such information, and that the serial number was not on the receipt, I was sure I was on a wild goose chase. Turns out I was right. Walmart suggested I open the PC and look for some "Internal Number". I again contacted emachines, and they said opening the laptop would void the warranty - not that that matters - they will not help me without a serial number.
