I purchased the vehicle for $29000 with $5000 down. When I went to pick the vehicle up a large amount of smoke came from the exhaust when I started it and every time I started it there after. I called the next day to let them know. They insisted it was because it was cold outside and perhaps the vehicle had just been sitting. 2 weeks later as me and my kids are driving to a festival the check engine light and low oil pressure light comes on. I immediately pull over to google what that means and how serious it was. Google said it was one of the worst things that can happen to that vehicle so I called DriveTime right away. The gave me a shop to take it to. We went to firestone as told and firestone said the vehicle had less than 1/3 of a quart of oil and it appeared as tho the vehicle had never had an oil change and recommended the entire engine be flushed. The cost of the oil change was $106 and they did not do engine flushes at their facility and recommend I find someone that does. I then called drivetime to tell them what the report said. They said they would not reimburse me for the oil and that I would have to pay that myself.

The following day I have to take my kids home to their mother which is a 90 min drive each direction. While on I4 the same things happens, however this time we are on a busy highway and I am not about to risk the safety of my kids lives and be on the side of I4 with cars doing 80+ MPH so I drove to the nearest exit and parked the vehicle at 7-11 and Hilton Hotel. My ex had to drive to come get the kids and I had to take an uber home, $58 dollars later I make it home. The following day I let DriveTime know what had happened and they said its under SilverRock warranty to call them to handle it. SilverRock said to tow it to the nearest facility and that once again I needed to pay for that. $177 to tow the vehicle in which they said they will reimburse $75 of that cost. I then had to fex ex the keys to the shop which was another $38. Upon calling Drive Time they said they will not reimburse me.

I told their customer service if they would pay for just the last tow I would not file complaints or sue them. They said too bad too sad, they sold me a car in which NEVER had an oil change and only 1/3 of a court of oil, they lied about inspecting the vehicle, there was NO OIL LEAK AT ALL, it simply had never been changed

It had oil

The car almost certainly had oil in it when it was at the dealer.  You drove it for weeks without checking the oil.  Your car had a blown engine.  Cars with blown engines burn oil.   Do you start to get the picture, or are you having trouble visualizing this complex sequence of events?  I know, it's probably very hard for someone like you.

And I rate your vehicle 150 out of 100.  So what?  You need to have an INDEPENDENT MECHANIC check the vehicle BEFORE you plonk down thousands of dollars.  You do realize that a used car dealership cares about only one thing -- getting your cash?

Now Billy Boy is without a car. Billy Boy doesn't have the brains to check the oil on a car he doesn't know. Because of Billy Boy's lack of common sense, he causes a breakdown. Now in very predictable fashion, Billy Boy STILL hasn't learned one damned thing from all of this and blames the dealer when Billy Boy himself, if he had the brains/IQ, could have prevented this. Now class...stand by for more hilarious statements from Billy Boy. Thanks for the laughs, kid!

They rate the cars AFTER THEIR INSPECTION. Mine was rated 98 out of 100. THEY TELL YOU HOW THEY INSPECT THE MOTOR AND ALL THE FLUIDS WHILE BEING SOLD THE VEHICLE s**t for brains. They give you a WARRANTY to back up their inspection. So yeah why tf would I think I need to check the oil. GET A LIFE loser.

You bought this car, which you have never seen before. You have no experience with this car and you don't know what, if any problems it had because you just don't know the car, as would anyone who just buys a used car. NOT ONCE did YOU even bother to CHECK THE OIL. You just drive it. You have ZERO CLUE as to whether or not there's oil in the engine and it never even occurs to you to check it because you probably don't even bother to do that common sense thing! If you would have, you could have added oil. Once again, another example of the DUMBING DOWN of America. Anybody with half a brain, would have, out of an abundance of caution, would have checked the oil on a USED CAR, they don't know because they need to observe these things. Absolutely amazing!!!

You bought a used vehicle for $29k sight unseen, without a test drive, and without having a mechanic look at it?  That's some weapons-grade stupidity right there.

Your vehicle has a blown engine, probably a busted valve seal.  It's causing it to burn lots of oil.  The smoke is a dead giveaway.  As far as the car running out of oil: you were driving it for weeks without ever checking the dipstick, so it's totally your fault.  You almost certainly damaged the engine even more.

That said, even if you keep the oil topped off, you will eventually destroy the engine if you keep driving it with a severe oil burning problem.  You need to take it to a real mechanic (not Firestone tire and lube monkeys) and have the engine overhauled or replaced.

The seller doesn't owe you anything, since you almost certainly bought the car AS IS.  It's your problem now.  And good luck getting the extended warranty to pay for anything.  They'll most likely deny it as pre-existing damage, which it is.  You should have noticed it before plonking down money for the car.
