I checked into the Days Inn in Asheville on Sunday the 29th.  Monday I left my room, the door securely closed, at approximately 8am and returned at approximately 1pm that day.  Upon entering the room I saw someone had turned on the A/C which I had left off.  I assumed someone from the hotel had been in the room working on something.  It was obvious they had not cleaned, the bed was unmade and towels still on the floor of the bathroom.

I checked my computer bag and my computer was still there so I pulled it out and continued working on the computer.  I was in the room all the rest of the day and the evening, leaving only for about 10 minutes to walk and get some food.  Tuesday morning I checked out at 8am.

Upon returning home I emptied my computer bag and discovered the portble DVD player was no longer in the side pocket.  The cord and car charger were still there.  I checked my car and it could not have fallen out of the computer bag...the sides close with velcro.

I called the hotel to report the problem and asked for the manager.  The manager was not in and I left a message for the manager to call me.  I called back about 3 hours later and the manager was busy.  I called back about 2 hours later and the manager had gone home.

The next day I called again.  This time I was put through to a "general" voice mail.  I called back to confirm that the manager would get the message and they assured me he would.  They refused to give me the manager's name.

When the manager called back I asked him what progress had been made in trying to determine who had been in my room during those specific hours and he began yelling at me that I should not tell him how to do his job and that I needed to call the police (I already had filed a report).  I was only trying to emphasize that the records should be preserved and any camera's recordings were not erased prior to police arriving.

He continued to scream at me and then hung up.  I called back to try to talk to him again and he got on the phone saying that if I continued to call he would report me for making harassing phone calls!

Never, ever stay at this hotel.  I have stayed in many hotels and never had anything stolen which was bad enough, but to then be treated as if I were the criminal by the management added insult to injury.

What kind of business refuses to provide a paying customer with the manager and/or owner's name??? If I remember correctly, these are all franchises and any reports to Corporate get tossed back to the franchise owner....
