Davison Design & Development Insulted my intelligence and was rude to me Pittsburgh Pennsylvania

First off I want to thank everyone's complaints on this company. It helped me make my decision not to work with them. I started completing my idea description on www.davison54.com. I received a phone call from Amy a couple days later. We discussed my idea in more detail and she told me that Davison thought it was a good idea and they wanted to go ahead with it. I received some papers in the mail and Amy called me back about a week later. I was able to dig up all the dirt on this conpany during that week to question Amy when she called back.

I found that the FTC had a lawsuit against Davison in 1997. Amy responded by saying Davison "LET" the FTC tour their HQ's and found that Davison did nothing wrong and no fines were issued. I thought it was nice of Davison to "LET" the FTC tour their company, as if the FTC needed permission. I also found that Davison had 121 complaints in 36 months filed with the Better Business Bureau. Amy responded by saying the BBB was just a catchers mit for complaints and it did not mean anything. That's almost 3 1/2 complaints a month. That means something to me.

Amy gave me a price on the phone of $50 an hour for a certain amount hours and that Davison gets 10% of moneys earned from the product, and that was it, with no mention of any other costs. In the Mandatory Contracting Requirements of North Carolina papers, it states that Davison normally charges a fee of less than $1,000 to perform design research. The contract sent to me listed $685. Davison offers clients the opportunity to purchase a prototype under a separate contract of course or the client can obtain one elsewhere. The median fee charged to all of Davison's clients who haved signed contracts with Davison in the preceding six months is less than $4,000. No mention of this from Amy.

The total number of clients contracted with Davison, excluding those who have contracted within the preceding 30 days is 6,258 and the number of clients who have received, by virtue of Davison's performance of services, money in excess of the amount paid by that client is 10. That means 1 out of 625 clients profited from Davison's services. If 6,248 clients paid Davison $658 in the six months, then Davison profited $4,279,880 and the clients profited $0. And this is just for the initial services Davison offers. It's mind blowing!. Amy responded by saying those numbers never change and Davison wants it that way so clients won't think their inventions have a good chance of success because of other people's success. Whatever that means, I offer a service to clients also and would not expect them to invest 1,000's of dollars for my services if only 10 out 6,258 benefited from it.

North Carolina encourages clients to consult with a qualified attorney before signing this contract. By proceeding without the advice of an attorney, you could lose any rights you might have in your idea or invention. No mention of that from Amy.

After presenting all of this to Amy, she of course tried to justify all the negative information I found on Davison and said that Davison is ranked the highest out of all the invention developing companies out their. Well if being the best of the worst is something to be proud of then thats good. I would hate to see the success rate of the other invention developing companies.

I finally told Amy I did not feel comfortable investing money I did not have in a company with such a low success rate. She responded by saying that they had ways for me to pay for it and if I didn't want to pursue with Davison then I was not serious about my invention. I told Amy I wanted more time to think it over and do some more research on Davison. She responded by saying someone else would steal my idea if I waited any longer and that she and Davison did not want to waist time with someone who is not serious about their invention. So after being insulted and belittled, I then decided to just scrap the idea altogether.

I hope this dicourages others from giving up their hard earned money on basically a chance to win the lottery. I know I would not spend $1,000's on a 1 out of 625 chance of success and profit. Thank you Ripoff Report and North Carolina law for providing me with infromation that saved me from losing $1,000's.
