If you do get a warranty from a store like Circuit City or Best Buy, you should only get it on the products that their service centers wont try to repair like mp3 players, speakers, cellphones, etc. Anything that can be repaired isnt really worth it, in my opinion, but the I got the replacement plan on a few things and was glad I did because they broke after the manufacturers warranty expired and I still got a brand new replacement.

Everyone on Earth knows the extended warranty is a scam. Nobody buys it, especially for a DVD player that is outdated. If mine breaks, I'm just going to spend $100 and buy a new, better DVD player.

After bringing the unit to a Panasonic service center to have them look at it. They determined that they detemined that there was no signs of any corrosion or water damage as was quoted as the reason to not repair it. As prviously dicribed the Circuit City Protection Plan represeitive called and quoted $50.00 to replace the broken lid which I agreed to. The Panasonic service center quoted $30.00 to fix the lid and charged $30.00 to dianosis the unit for the stated "Water and Corrosion Damage". The old water and corrosion damage claim is a scam to blow the customer off for min cost to Circuit City.

I see where 100 percent of Circuit City's annual profits come from the sale of extended warranties. Which means the store is just a front to sell warranties. The only worthwhile item to ever get a warranty on is a costly treadmill.
