In January 2022 I requested a siding and window replacement quote for a property I manage from this company. In June 2022, the owner approved the quote, we signed the contract with Clark Ebert, and we paid a $12,000 deposit per the contract. Clark informed us that it would take 6-8 weeks to get the supplies ordered and they'd be able to do the work once supplies were acquired. I had followed up periodically on the status of the work and informed the residents of the building that this project was coming up. Everyone was very excited about it because the building really needed this work to be done.
In October, Clark told me he had obtained the permit. I was following up more frequently at this point since we were behind schedule and I was concerned about the quickly approaching winter season. After a full week of no responses from Clark, I reached out again via phone, voicemail, text message and email. I stated that he had stopped responding and due to the delays and time of year I requested that our deposit be returned so we could hire another vendor.
Clark responded via email as follows: "that is fine. Only problem is I don't have the money right now. Will get it to you as I get it."
Clark never ordered the supplies. He never picked up the permit, and he never completed the contractor registration required by the city. He planned on stringing us along and running away with the money the entire time. HE TOOK TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLARS.
He refuses to respond. I have found other customers and employees/subcontractors of his who were also scammed by him recently. He prided himself on being in business for decades and now apparently prides himself on ripping people off. We will get our money back, Clark.
