I tried Compuserve's One Month Free Trial that came with a computer I got. I spend alot of time online, message boards, chat rooms, downloading Demos' and Music. Stupid me, I didn't think to read ALL the fine print when installing the Compuserve Classic Free Trial, so when I got my Credit Card Bill... whoa! $320+ bucks in charges.

I immediately called the customer disservice dept. and the rep told me (after staying on hold for 15 minutes wondering if they'd charge me 2.99/min. for the call) that the trial only allows 20 hours free, at which point it starts charging 2.39/min(I don't remember the exact amt. per minute, but it was exhorbitant). Then the rep said they can't help me and could only cancel the acct.

This is the funny part, the rep. asks if I have the CLassic or Gold acct., I didn't know but told them it came with the computer and I thought it was Classic. The rep responds that they don't have me in the database under classic and it must be Gold, "yup you're under the Gold acct" the rep says.

After cancelling I booted up my computer and checked what kind of membership it was... written in the start up screen : Compuserve Classic Free Trial. Are these people pathalogical liars?!

They got me for over $500 bucks and when my Card Company declined the remaining amount they sent collections letters. This is after I paid them $300 bucks for one measly month of isp access! Talk about Highway robbery!

Now I have unlimited access with another isp for $19.95/mo. Compuserve... don't touch it!! Thanks for reading, I feel better now.
