I never complain or write reviews about companies; however, due to my recent experience with www.circuitcity.com and their CS reps I had no other choice.

This complaint is in regards to Order #F6851926

In all my years of buying electronics I have NEVER experienced customer service as rude, unprofessional and unethical as my last experience from www.circuitcity.com. I HIGHLY urge you to read this review before  purchasing anything from them.

On 8/18/2011, I purchased an LG 60PZ550 60" 3D Smart Plasma HDTV for $899.99 ($978.99 with S&H) with a coupon code for $500 off. The order went through and I received my order confirmation e-mail instantly. Two days later, I had not received a shipping confirmation so I checked up on the order and it said it was still "under review". So I call up and was told that I needed to verify my CC information which I did and the CS rep said everything was order and it would be shipping out immediately. Two days after that I still had not received a shipping confirmation so I call back (again) only to find out that now they tell me that the TV is now on backorder and they are going to discontinue the style number. They said I should have received an e-mail about this which was never sent.

Here is the best part ...

The CS rep (John - 1-800-955-1888, ex.5890) then tells me that because of this inconvenience they would offer me another model (Samsung's UN60D6400) for $1149.99. I told him that I'd have to do research on the model and asked if I called back if the price would still be available
to me. To that, I was told, "No problem, of course.". So, I do  research then call back to order the Samsung model and everything is going good until a "manager" named William (ex. 2931) tells me that they cannot honor the price that was quoted to me because it was a "misquote". He then tells me that he can give me a discount on a TV which costs upwards of $2,000. When I told him I wanted to keep it in the $1,000 range he told me I was "out of luck, then".

Since then, I have called "William" five times, left numerous messages and
have even spoken to another manager, "Bridget - ex. 2993"; however, no
one has called me back.

Instead of honoring their pricing (twice, mind you) I am now stuck with absolutely nothing. Not to
mention the fact that they tried to upsell me on a higher priced TV AND said that I'd still have to pay S&H on the order.

So, if you're looking for a company that won't honor it's prices, tries to "bait and switch" you into other products and won't return phone calls, by all means order from here.

Rebuttle to Circuit City's "Response" and "Offer"

Nice try, Circuit City, but get the facts straight.  You stated that the television which I "requested" to be substituted was over $1000 under your cost price.  This is completely wrong and typical of companies that try bait and switch techniques.  If you read my review you would have seen that I did not "request" a substituted television ... it was OFFERED to me and then subsequently taken back as soon as I went to place the order.

You should definitely go back and "review your records to ensure that your calls were handled
professionally and efficiently" because then you would have seen and heard that every word I stated in my first complaint was 100% true.  Go dig up the tapes and listen.  I urge you to and then report back to here.  In fact, I give you full permission to write out word for word the dialogue of all of my conversations (with John and the other "managers").  But you won't ... because you're liars and cowards.

Stop trying to make me sound like the bad guy here.

To repeat, I did not "request" a TV.  A TV was OFFERED to me at a price, I accepted the deal and then the deal got yanked out from under me like a rug. Then, I was told I could buy another TV at almost 2x the cost.  Like I said, bait and switch.

You can save your "free shipping" offer for someone else because after you tried to scam me I went out and purchased over $4000 worth of equipment from a more reputable dealer who knows the meaning of customer service.  Like I said, none of my family, friends or business associates will EVER deal with your company thanks to this instance.

Dear Customer,

I am terribly sorry to hear about your negative experience with our company. I have looked into your case and unfortunately the television that you requested to be substituted was over $1000 under our cost price and we were unable to fulfill this offer.

We're sorry about any inconvenience this may have caused you and we will review our records to ensure that your calls were handled professionally and efficiently. We would be more than happy to work with you on getting a better deal on any TV we currently sell on our website with free shipping, please contact us back if you would like to take advantage of this offer.

Best Regards.
