Choice Home Warranty Charged $315 for 30 day waiting period. Afterwards denied first claim for repair by saying it was a pre-existing condition. Canceled and they refused to return the $315 for the non-covered waiting period. he appliance Edison New Jersey
Contacted Choice Home Warranty on 12/08/2020. Agreed to 3 year home warranty program for $1260 payable over 4 months. They made it clear that the first 30 days wasa waiting period and no claims could be submitted. They immediately charged my credit card $315 for the30 day waiting period when no claims could be submitted. 30 days later (01/08/2021) they charged nother $315. Afterwards--and beyond the 30 day waiting period--I file a claim when my garage door opener stopped working.
They sent a technician. Subsequently, CHM denied the claim stating it was a pre-existing condition and was not covered. I paid the technician over $400. I then attempted to open a dispute with CHW. They kept putting me off and I could not schedule a dispute review. I told CHW to cancel my policy. They did. However, to this day, they refuse to reimburse me the initial $315 they collected over the phone on12/09/2020. Again, this initial payment was for the 30 day waiting period where no claims could be submitted. My house is 20 years old.
I closed on this house 11/4/2020. I had a full home inspection. No defetcs or existing conditions were noted by my home inspector regarding the garage door opener. CHW was told the house was 20 years old. CHW did not send an inspector to inspect the house. What 20 year old house may not present some appliance that is about to fail?
Anything could be "pre-existing." To me, CHW collected the $315 and knew d**n well they would deny the first claim regardless of what the claim was for. They just wanted to collect the $315 for the waiting period. This is business is a SCAM.
