Carousel Properties, led by property manager Monique Taylor, has shown a complete lack of responsibility and care towards their tenants, as evidenced by their handling of a flooding incident that occurred last fall. As a result of their negligence, tenants were left to deal with the aftermath of significant damage to their personal belongings, with no help or support from the property management company.

October 24th, 2022

The flooding that occurred on October 24th, 2022 was caused by fibrous roots growing in the pipes, a problem that was clearly the responsibility of Carousel Properties to address. Here's a video of the apartment flood: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRd4ys-CpRg&feature=youtu.be. Due to the flooding, several things were damaged, including my TV in the bedroom, two area rugs, expensive photography boards, etc.

Despite this, they refused to take action, leaving my family to bear the brunt of the damage caused by their negligence. This is an unacceptable way to treat paying tenants, who should be able to expect a certain level of care and attention from their landlords. I sent to Carousel Properties in regard to the issue, but they were mostly ignored. It showed on the property management portal that things were resolved the next day, but they never were and I told Carousel this. It took about a week for a plumber to show up. It wasn't until November 16th that maintenance came to my house with a dehumidifier - weeks later after the flooding. This should have been addressed immediately, not weeks later. Not being proactive in the beginning may have led to mold growth underneath the flooring.

My family and I have been having respiratory issues. An air purifier can only do so much However, Carousel doesn't want to do anything to look into this matter. If you look at their Google reviews, I'm not the only tenant that has issues with them. I don't believe that this building is really up to code and a lot of things were outdated.

Additionally, they don't come here regularly to cut the grass whereas other property managers are more proactive.   To make matters worse, when I attempted to seek compensation from their renter's insurance, we were met with a dead end. State Farm stated that they could not cover the damages caused by the root growth, as it was not their responsibility. Instead, they pointed the finger at Carousel Properties, stating that it was their responsibility to take care of the losses. However, despite clear evidence of the damage caused, Carousel Properties failed to provide any support or compensation to me.   This is unacceptable behavior from a property management company, and it is clear that Carousel Properties is not fit to manage rental properties. Tenants have the right to expect a certain level of care and attention from their landlords, and it is clear that Carousel Properties is not living up to these expectations.

It is time for them to take responsibility for their actions and provide the support that tenants deserve. If they cannot do so, then they should be held accountable for their negligence, and tenants should seek other options for their housing needs.   Furthermore, it is important to note that despite my attempts to communicate with Carousel Properties about the issue, my messages and concerns were mostly ignored. While the property management portal indicated that the issue had been resolved, it was clear that this was not the case, as maintenance did not come to address the issue until weeks later.

This lack of proactive response from Carousel Properties may have contributed to the growth of mold underneath the flooring, which has caused respiratory issues for my family and me. Despite this, Carousel Properties has shown no interest in investigating the matter or taking any action to address the potential health risks to its tenants.   It is clear that Carousel Properties is not fulfilling their responsibilities as property managers, and this is reflected in their poor reviews on Google.

Other tenants have also reported issues with the property management company, indicating that this is not an isolated incident. It is concerning to think that the building may not be up to code, and that many things may be outdated. Additionally, the lack of regular upkeep, such as cutting the grass, is indicative of a company that does not prioritize the needs of their tenants.

Carousel Properties and property manager Monique Taylor have demonstrated a complete lack of care and responsibility towards their tenants. Their failure to address the flooding issue in a timely manner, their indifference toward the potential health risks posed by mold growth, and their overall neglect of their duties as property managers are unacceptable.

In addition to their neglectful behavior regarding the flooding incident, it has come to light that Carousel Properties and Monique Taylor do not uphold their leasing agreements in regards to pets. While their leasing contract clearly allows for pets with payment of pet fees, Monique Taylor has not upheld this agreement with tenants. In fact, when I expressed interest in getting a dog, Monique berated me and made it clear that she did not support the idea.  This is especially concerning as I was looking to get a service dog, which is an animal that provides important assistance to those with disabilities and other things, such as PTSD and anxiety. I was told by Tyler at Carousel that I could have pet as long as I got a letter from my doctor as well as proof of up-to-date shots.

Service dogs and emotional support animals are generally accepted under such contracts. It is not acceptable for a property manager to treat tenants disrespectfully, particularly when they are considering getting an animal that is allowed under the terms of the lease.  This behavior is completely unacceptable and goes against her supposed motto of treating tenants like family. If this is how she treats her tenants, it is clear that her idea of "family" is to treat them like trash.

This is not only a breach of the leasing agreement, but it is also indicative of a property management company that does not prioritize the needs and desires of their tenants. It is clear that Monique Taylor and Carousel Properties do not value their tenants as individuals with unique lifestyles and preferences. Instead, they seem to see them only as a source of income, and are unwilling to accommodate their reasonable requests.   Overall, it is clear that Carousel Properties and Monique Taylor are not fit to manage rental properties. Their neglectful behavior towards tenants, failure to uphold leasing agreements, and overall lack of care and responsibility towards their tenants are unacceptable. It is clear that Carousel Properties is not fit to manage rental properties, and tenants should seek other options for their housing needs.
