I wish I had known about this site prior to contacting and engaging the "services" of Bernard Haldane & Associates.

My story begins in October 2003, when I lost my job and had to seek new employment.

While scanning the classified ads in the Philadelphia Inquirer, I saw ad titled "Job Hunting" in large, boldface print. The text of the ad indicated that most of the best jobs available are not being advertised. The ad stated that if you were looking for a better position in the $50k-$250k range, you should submit a resume and they would call if they were able to help.

I received a call from a man named Mr. Chris Massaro, Senior Consultant at Haldane Associates, who invited me to come into the office for a meeting. At the meeting, he ran through my background and relayed that Haldane would be able to help me in my job search. He then asked to schedule another meeting that required my wife to be in attendance.

My wife accompanied me to the second meeting, where Mr. Chris Massaro made a presentation to me and my wife outlining the features and benefits of the Haldane process, emphasizing their access to the hidden job market and their ability to get me in front of key decision makers in companies. The presentation was so effective that I readily signed up and had the fee of $4860 charged to my credit card.

Mr. Massaro then relayed to me that I would be working with a Mr. Ken Johnson, Career Counselor at Haldane Associates, on my Professional Career Development Program.

I met with Mr. Johnson several times over the course of the next few weeks as he designed the program that would enable me to access the hidden job market and to meet with key decision makers in firms. In theory, everything presented to me in our meeting sounded terrific.

After our final meeting, Mr. Johnson felt I was ready to initiate my program. The program consisted of trying to network among people to obtain "informational interviews". In other words, instead of asking to meet with person A about a job, I would meet with Person A with the objective to find out if they would provide me with contacts regarding obtaining employment. This sounded fine in theory, but was a disaster in practice, as the normal response received was that these people were not being paid by their company to tell me about their job or to help me find a job.

In the meantime, I was supposed to utilize another feature of the program, that being the Haldane website. This was supposed to be a great tool to help me find job listings and business and industry information. However, it really provided nothing that any normal person can do own their own, as far as finding job boards and the like.

The end result brings me to today, which is exactly four months from when I signed up for the program. I have had no success whatsoever from using the Haldane program. I am of the opinion that the services that they offer are no different or better than any person looking for a job can do on their own. The promise of access to hidden job market and the ability to meet with key decision makers has proven to be an empty one indeed.

If I can offer anyone advice, it is to please avoid doing business with Bernard Haldane Associates. They charge a signifcant amount of money for things that you can do on your own and the promises of success that are made will not be delivered.

I have contacted Haldane to have my money refunded to me but have received no response from them as of yet. I am going to dispute the charge with my credit card company.

I will update my situation as events warrant.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!
