Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

This company is a total ripoff. Lying/Deceptive to general public. I have a very high credit rating and get offers for 0% for 18 mos all the time. I open these accounts when I need a bit more, or more precisely, like a bit more time to pay off debts that will be coming up. I signed up for 0% for 18 mos.

I paid $1464.57 well within due date. I then received a $71.65 interest charge? What? I certainly can pay off $6,000 that is not the issue. The issue is I signed up for 0% for 18 mos. The idiot supervisor, very rude, said I signed up for 0% balance transfers for 15 billing cycles. WRONG! I said if you don't give me the 0% for 18 mos I am paying off this balance today and closing the card.

He was rude, nasty, didn't care about me as a customer or consumer. I told him I was reporting this coming for fraud and deception. I am 61 yrs old business woman and have had all kinds of credit cards. AMEX, Chase Mastercard, etc. Never been treated this way. I am valued by other companies for my high credit score and financial stability.

BARCLAY CREDIT CARDS ARE NOTHING BUT DECEPTIVE AND A RIPOFF. AND I TOLD THIS FOOL, THIS 'SUPERVISOR' I KNOW THEY GET THESE COMPLAINTS DAILY. I AM NO FOOL, I AM A TOP NOTCH REALTOR FOR OVER 30 YRS. I KNOW BANKING. STAY AWAY FROM BARCLAY CREDIT CARDS.

You Really Can't Be This Stupid

I mean seriously, you post to a public website to warn the public about your situation, post no evidence you were ripped off, and then when the public responds against your story, you then think we're all the same person?  What a moron.  I can see why you got a divorce - you are a nightmare from a rationality point of view.  You simply can't accept fault.  Oh, and your divorce is irrelevant to your entire story.

So, to repeat the point...This is really all your fault - all of it.  You signed up for the wrong card and you incurred a fee of $71.65.  In truth...so what?  If you're really that successful, $71.65 just isn't worth your time, energy, or anything else at this point.  Continuing to argue the issue only points out you aren't successful.  If you can't understand why, then let's look at it this way:

You've been here a few times typing rebuttals defending yourself, not to mention the initial complaint, right?  Probably spent a few hours or more here.  Now, let's add all the time you've been arguing on the phone with the CC company about something that was your fault.

Perhaps altogether between the phone and the computer, you're talking about 5 hours with the responding.  Now let's say you call again because you can't let anything go, and the CC company finally after another 30 minutes of arguing relents and says, "OK, we will refund you as a courtesy."

You get $71.65 paid back to you.  That translates to $13.03/hour.  Successful people don't earn $13.03/hour.  They take the $71.65 expense as a write off to the business, and let the IRS refund a portion of it back to you through your tax return.

The most successful people understand time management better than anyone and devote their valuable time to being successful, because time is the most valuable commodity of all.  They won't spend time on $71.65.....

Since you had a card that allows unlimited balance transfers at 0%, the real answer is to write off the $71.65 as "Stupid Expense" on your books, and then balance transfer the remaining balance to a new card that really has a 0% over some period, not argue over whether the interest was a ripoff....

It is really about taking responsibility

Perhaps the anger you are sensing is because you are upset that you made a mistake and don't want to accept responsibility, because there is no anger coming from my perspective.

You obviously are so organized in your home despite any personal issues. I.e, divorce, death, illnesses, etc. that YOU would NEVER make a mistake and not read small print.

- But that is NOT what you stated...you stated that you in fact did not go through the Fine Print because you were too busy "making money".

YOU HAVE THE ANGER ISSUES. I came on here to honestly alert consumers as I have the original paperwork and indeed it says 0% for 18 mos.

- Again no anger here. Just again mentioning that statement is not what you said previously. It in fact contradicts that statement again by once again stating you failed to read the fine print about "Balance Transfers".

I used the card once and and paid off a good amount,

- No you used the card once and paid off about $1500 of an approximatly $7500 balance. You only paid off the rest after having a fit over $71 and the reality of that is based on your claims it was only about 1-2 months before you would have paid it off anyways. Since you state you were not going to look for another Balance Transfer.

Robert obviously you don't go through a lot of papers daily and have never been stressed by a divorce.

Robert or Jim. I don't care what you think of me as a realtor or if it doesn't add up in your little mind. AS a realtor I also have an office staff and assistant that goes through documents with me. As an individual in my home, I have mail which I go through myself.

You obviously are so organized in your home despite any personal issues. I.e, divorce, death, illnesses, etc. that YOU would NEVER make a mistake and not read small print. YOU HAVE THE ANGER ISSUES. I came on here to honestly alert consumers as I have the original paperwork and indeed it says 0% for 18 mos.

I used the card once and and paid off a good amount, then received $71+ interest. Looked back at original document and the rest is in SMALL PRINT balance transfers only... Now go run along.. obviously you are delusional and someone I do not, would not spend time on or with... END OF DISCUSSION...STOP HARASSING ME.

Correct. A successful person who has money is frugal. Now on your way.

I find you to lack any sensibilities as far as human nature goes. Rich people, well-off people do not like to loose money. Even $100. End of discussion.

Stop harassing me. I put in what I felt was deceptive to help other consumers.

Talking about

#6Consumer Comment

Tue, September 24, 2019

Talking about Anger issues..wow.

The entire premise of your "RipOff" was that they didn't give you what you signed up for..that is 18 months instead of 15 months.

However, the real issue as it turns out is that you just failed to read what you call the "Fine Print" because you were just too busy making money and just happen to pick one of many you had laying around on some stack. When you found out that they wouldn't give you 3 extra months you had what parents would call a Temper-Trantrum and basically told them you were just going to stop letting them play with your toys.

Now, there are a few issues here. First as a Realtor you deal with Contracts EVERY day and I bet you don't rush through those. The "Fine Print" is actually the Federally mandated disclosures that are far from "Fine Print" and intentionally separated from the rest of the terms so the borrowers can see them without having to dig.  Second, you generally don't hear a Realtor, especially successful ones, basically trying to use the excuse that they didn't just have the time to read to agreement because they were just too busy making money. If my realtor made that statement to me, I would be finding a new realtor ASAP.

Then we get to the entire deal of how well off you are. You are basically complaining about $71 but then gloat about how successful you are and how much you have in the bank. Even if it was just complaining in principal you seem to be spending hundreds of dollars in time and effort for something that was basically your fault for failing to take a fraction of that time to read the terms.  It is really almost at the point where it seems if you keep saying you are successful that someone may eventually believe it.  Not to mention that EVERY month you get  a statement and that statement..again per FEDERAL law...lists when any special promotions are ending. But I imagine you were just too busy to read your statements either.

This just doesn't add up.

A successful person doesn't like to loose $100....THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK! JIM/ROBERT

An hourly rate? You have no idea if I spent an hour on it. And let's be clear little person, rich and successful people do not like to loose their money when it did not have to be lost. $71.00/$100/$1000. No difference, it is the principle. But you clearly do not see that or comprehend basic priniciples.

Again Jim or Robert... same person WRONG! I do not have any debt to transfer

#8Author of original report

I have no debt to transfer. I was offered $30,000 credit. I believe you and Robert are the same person. Sadly, you don't understand finance and how it works. And you both hate anyone who is successful and has real estate and money. And you (same persone) obviously don't know anyone successful with money and how to make and keep it. I have no mortgages and I have cash.

My husband has even more, therefore the divorce can go on for years. It was offered, I get these offers all the time. Now go back to school and truly learn about finance. Keeping your money and getting offers of credit to cover a period of time is how an intelligent investor works. Listen and learn.

This Is Seriously Your Fault

#9Consumer Comment

Tue, September 24, 2019

Let's be really clear.  No one who is a successful investor would even need to take advantage of such cards in the first place.  You've simply decided to finance whatever it is you're doing through CC which can be a much more expensive way to operate your....whatever.

So, you decide you're simply going to keep transferring your outstanding debt to 0% cards for interest avoidance purposes.  That is not the sign of anyone successful.  It's the sign of someone who is overleveraged, and could use a conventional loan and either can't or won't obtain one.  It's not a matter of knowing who you are; you made it pretty clear what you are in your own words.  You just don't like the response because it lacks your spin.

I paid $1464.57 well within due date. I then received a $71.65 interest charge? What? I certainly can pay off $6,000 that is not the issue.  Well, if it wasn't that much of an issue, then you wouldn't need a 0% card at all.  And all of this ridiculousness for $71.65?  Was all of this manipulation worth $71.65 of your time?  See, that's the disconnect.  A successful person sees their time is really valuable - certainly more than $71.65 per hour, even on principle.  However, for whatever reason, you have an anathma toward paying interest, as if interest is 100% avoidable and you're fighting tooth and nail over it.  That's not where your battles should be fought.  Unless you happen to be Warren Buffett and can pay for the BNSF Railroad for cash, then you are never going to avoid interest.  You can certainly take steps to avoid interest like you're trying to do - all of it at the cost of your valuable time and effort.  It isn't worth it.

The issue is I signed up for 0% for 18 mos. The idiot supervisor, very rude, said I signed up for 0% balance transfers for 15 billing cycles. WRONG!  Or the supervisor is probably right that you simply signed up for the wrong card without realizing it.  You messed up and are blaming someone else.

I am valued by other companies for my high credit score and financial stability.  Not really.  You are valued by other companies because you will use the card.  When you use the card, they collect merchant fees anytime and everytime you use the card.  CC companies make most of their money off of merchants - not off of the interest you're avoiding.  Now if you screw up and end up paying interest, then that's just gravy.  You are nothing but a tool to a credit card company for them to make money.  They don't give a darn about you, your credit score, or your financial stability.

All credit card companies are primarily the same.  No one is better or worse than the other.

Robert is way off! I get offers all the time, only take advantage every 4 or 5 yrs

I happened to own several pieces of real estate in Westchester County. NO MORTGAGES Robert. At the moment I am going through a divorce and took advantage of one of these cards. I have plenty of cash in the bank. My husband has plenty as well.

A long divorce and nothing wrong with taking a card out with 0% for 18 mos as a boost. And yes, I paid off the $6,000 and closed the card. Think before you talk out of the other end of your body. You don't know me, and I am a well respected top realtor and no house of cards here buddy.... just taking a precaution to a lengthy divorce. And trying to help other busy people read the fine print. Now go get a job or do charity work. Something constructive with your time.

Wrong. You think you know me? NOT! I was NOT looking for another card in 1 - 2 mos.

#11Author of original report

Tue, September 24, 2019

You are a*s UMING and that makes an A*S out of U. No I was not going to look for another card in 1 to 2 mos. I get offers weekly for 0% for 18 mos. Some with rewards. This card was deceptive. NO REWARDS, which was obvious. But NOT THE TRANSFER BALANCE 0% - small print.

I get so many of these offers that I didn't look at the small print. And I am so busy making money I perused it, and the other ones. Picked it up and accepted. I am very busy, yes 30 yrs as a top realtor (unlike someone like you who has time to look up these reports written in good faith as personal warnings, who has nothing else to do).

Why so much anger directed at me?? Where does this come from??? Do you work for Barclay Bank? You obviously have some deeper issues. Perhaps because I am success and do make money. Who knows, good therapists are out there. Find one.

I only get these cards every few years. That is 4 or 5 years when I want to cover unknown expenses. Which are none of your business. And to answer this question, "By the way since you didn't mention it and are writing this post, we can figure they didn't give you the 0% for 18 months.

So did you follow through with your "threat" and pay them off the $6,000?" YUP I SURE DID. I SENT MY PAYMENT DIRECTLY FROM MY CHECKING ACCOUNT AND THAT CARD IS CLOSED. ANYTHING ELSE MR/MS KNOWNOTHINGATALL. Take your anger some place else and leave this post for those that truly want to learn from it. Since you know everything.. laughing hard!

And of course

#12Consumer Comment

And of course as a realtor with 30+ years of experience and excellent credit you have proof of what you signed up for in writting...RIGHT?

He was rude, nasty, didn't care about me as a customer or consumer.

- Why would he care? You stated it yourself you open up multiple credit cards to move money around so you can continue to keep getting 0% interest promotions to give you more time(BTW that is a HUGE red flag that I'll address later).

As soon as a better offer comes along you would just go to any of your other numerous credit cards you say you get offers for. I am not saying there is anything wrong with that if you show proper management. But

you can't go claiming lack of loyalty toward a card holder is a RipOff when you have not indicated you would show them any sort of loyalty.

I paid $1464.57 well within due date. I then received a $71.65 interest charge? What? I certainly can pay off $6,000 that is not the issue

- Actually that is an issue. In 15 months you paid approximatly $100/month? And you want them to believe that in the next 3 months you were going to pay the remaining $6000?

No...what you were going to do was in about 1-2 months start looking for another 0% "deal", transfer the balance to that card and give yourself another period of time to continue to pay down the debt. This is NOT the action of a successful Real Estate Agent. This is an action of someone who is building a house of cards, and is just waiting for their financial house to collapse. Eventually these 0% offers will dry up and you will be forced to pay off the debt with what ever credit card you landed on.

By the way since you didn't mention it and are writing this post, we can figure they didn't give you the 0% for 18 months.  So did you follow through with your "threat" and pay them off the $6,000?
