Hi my name is Sean Osada. Upon leasing an apartment for Ascend Properties in Honolulu, I came across an uncleaned and unlivable studio apartment provided by the property management.

 

The entire unit was unvaccumed nor cleansed, carpets were stained, light swiches not working, some electric outlets not working, garbage disposol that isn't functional (hence the kitchen sink being unusable), a door that doesn't close, smelly used rag in the washing machine, missing rail in the balcony, broken mirror pieces on the floor, paper trash in the closet, cat fur eveywhere and a drug packet found above the bathroom cabinet.

 

I contacted Ascend properties multiple times on the phone but they continued to ignored me, I then perceeded emailing them requesting repairs and a deep clean of the apartment but recieved no response. Here are the details of dates. 

 

12/20/2022 found the apartment on Facebook marketplace, I message Claude Abou-Sayf

12/21 I get a response from Claude, his assistant physically shows me the apartment space

12/22 I applied for the apartment 

12/26 I text Claude for the application status

12/27 I’m now in contact with Kawehi Joy from Ascend via email 

12/28 rent lease form signed 

12/30 visits ascend office to pay the rent and deposit in exchange for the key. I am told I will be showed in the apartment for the move in on Jan. 1st. 

 

1/1/2023 I text Claude to show me in the apartment, he was under the assumption I would move in on my own and we meet later in the week, but we meet up and shows me in the apartment. 

1/2 after spending a day in the apartment, I notice that the studio hasn’t been cleaned whatsoever. 

1/3 I sent Claude photos and video documentation of the apartments status. He says he isn’t involved and that I should send them to Ascend. I ask for his email to loop in Claude and Kawehi in the same email thread but he refuses to share. I sent Ascend the same documented videos and PDF through email. 

1/4 I physically go to Ascends office and share my concern of the studio and that I need a cleaning vendor immediately. 

1/5 Claude sends me a text confirming I want a cleaning vendor, and sends Shane for a light clean. 

I email Kawehi acknowledging them sending over a cleaning vendor but clearly stating that a light clean isn’t good enough, also requesting for repairs in detail but no response about that since. 

 

 

It was only after directing visiting them at their office they were able to assist the situation, and even then they sent over a cleaning vendor for a light clean and not a deep clean as requested. They fell short on delivering a clean, functional apartment as advertised and failed to follow through on the requests after being inquired to do their innitial job. This is unprofessinal and unacceptable. I would like to report an official complaint on Ascent Property Managment. 

 

I have photos and videos of the apartment taken on the week of my move in as well as updates since then to back my claim. I will attach the link to them below.
