We took out a mortgage with Ameriquest...a few weeks after the loan closed, we got a letter in the mail from Ameriquest offering mortgage insurance that would pay the mortgage if my husband or I got hurt and were unable to work and make payments.

In November that year, I got hurt and contacted Ameriquest to let them know we needed to have the insurance make the payments until I was released to go back to work. They (Ameriquest) told us we didn't have mortgage insurance. I went through the roof! They told us we would have to provide the original documents, but I had only copies; I had sent the originals when my husband and I signed them.

By then, we were two months behind and Ameriquest kindly set us up a payment plan...$1270.00 down and $930.00 a month! And they would only accept Western Union payments that cost $70.00 to send. We paid the amounts they demanded along with our other bills, on our savings and my husband's income (he is an over the road trucker and gets paid per mile, and during October to April miles are just about nil) until our savings were gone and were living check to check. My worker's comp was late coming in (I ended up getting an attorney on that) so we contacted Ameriquest again and told them our situation. They told us they were starting foreclosure proceedings! I went ballistic and told them we would get an attorney and then they told me go ahead. I went to their website and filed a complaint AND contacted an attorney. Ameriquest did start foreclosure proceedings and wrecked our credit. The president's office of Ameriquest contacted us to "investigate" and now they want to reinstate our mortgage but we have to have $1500.00 down and put the arrears att he end of our loan. I am getting permanent disability plus my husband's wages, but have no money for savings. We can't re-finance due to foreclosure on our credit, even though they have stopped foreclosure proceedings so far.

If anyone can help us out please contact us.
