About a year ago I applied for a got a Chase Amazon credit card. At that time I had a FICO score approximating 800. The application went through and I was hit with a 64 point reduction in my FICO score (average is 15 points) and an interest rate 10 percentage points higher than the other two cards I have held and service faithfully for years.

When I enquired about these issues I was told that basically since I was getting a 5% refund on some of my Amazon purchases it was their (Chase Bank's) decision to charge the extra 10% rate on the card and the the reduction in my credit score was just too bad.

The bottom line is that you are not getting a 5% rebate from Amazon , but from the extra interest charge made for having the card.

I would not advise anyone to get a Chase Amazon credit card, you will be the looser.

Over and over and over...it's one after another who doesn't have the COMMON SENSE to READ what they are signing BEFORE signing it! This report is nothing more than an ADMISSION TO THE WORLD of still another example of LACK OF COMMON SENSE!

First of all, any drop in your Credit Score is NOT determined by the credit card company. Regardless of the name on the card, your drop would have been exactly the same. The drop may be an average of 15 points, but the keyword is "average". Would you be complaining if your score only dropped 5 points?

As for the Interest Rate. The rates were disclosed to you before you applied for the card, it is FEDERAL law. So don't say you didn't get them...you just failed to read them. If the interest rate was too much you should NOT have submitted the application.

Oh and one other thing. Interest is OPTIONAL. If you don't want to pay the interest...pay off your card every month.

You are playing a losing game anytime you get a credit card and play with other people's money.
