Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
 This dealership advertised itself as able to assist customers with challenging credit issues to secure financing and purchase a car from them.  I met a very pleasant and professional salesman who led me to believe that they would and could do as advertised and in fact they did secure financing for me but that is where the competence  and assistance ended.  They were not able and/or willing to follow through with completing the deal and could not or would not explain or acknowledge the reason.  I had a down payment, secure and well paying job and chosen car. so what was the problem?  I don't know but it would appear that the finance and sales staff do not or cannot support the efforts of their sales staff and are, in fact not, as advertised, able to assist customers with credit issues.  The only of their staff to acknowledge that they were unable to follow through and to apologize was the salesman.The manager, Jason Rogers, was arrogant and unpleasant to me, a customer.  They have lost my business, my respect and my recommendations.

At least based on what the OP wrote this wasn't a "Spot Delivery" scam.  If it was the OP would not be here claiming that they couldn't get financed. They would be claiming that they got financed, drove the car off the lot, but were then later told the "bad news".

This lends even more weight to the fact that this person's credit was so bad that there was no way they could finance him for what they wanted.  It could also be a case where this dealer was actually being honest and upfront with the person and instead of running the "Spot Delivery" scam on them they just said they couldn't do the deal.

In the end this person lost nothing, except for time, and if they do have severe credit issues may have saved themselves more problems.

Frankly, the honest way to go about it to me would be to have customers get pre finance approval before the haggling begins,

Not sure if this is what you are saying, but the best thing to do is take the dealer out of it all together.  Get your financing approved(not just some pre-approval) from a finance company or bank before you even walk in the door.  This way not only do you already know what you can afford, but you avoid any possibility of the dealer running any sort of "Spot Delivery" scam on you.

This is probably the same old same old par for the course dealer nonsense.

I feel it's safe to surmise the sales staff agreed to a deal at a given price, loan terms, monthly payment  plan, etc only to have the finance team turn the tables when the customer went in to sign the documents by presenting new terms and the ole "Can't get you that financing" crappola.

Frankly, the honest way to go about it to me would be to have customers get pre finance approval before the haggling begins, but that would remove the emotional weapon from the dealer, since many that complain here end up caving in to the new finance terms at signing because they're already emotionally invested in getting the vehicle. At the very least, all talk of what finance terms might end up being should be left for the end, with a decent range of possible final costs given the customer so they're better prepared to hear the worst.

Anything short of that that sends customers into that office thinking, KNOWING, they have one deal only to suddenly find out, if they even bother to read the contract, that they do NOT have any such deal, is misleading. And if the dealers insist on doing business this way, then they earn their lil ole spot on this site.

You said it yourself..it was YOUR credit.  There is a point that your credit is bad enough for your situation that NO finance company wants to take a chance on you anymore. 

You didn't give any specifics but what you may think is a decent down payment may not be enough.  What you think is a secure and well paying job may not have been enough for the car you want.

They have lost my business, my respect and my recommendations.

- Somehow I don't think they will mind.
