Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I have a son that was completely ripped off by Aamco transmissions in Renton Washington, and also in Shoreline Washington. He had a very nice Acura suv that was ruined by aamco. He brought his car in to have it looked at because he thought something minor was wrong with it . They said they would take a free look at it. Days and days  go by and then they tell him the transmission is shot . They tell us it will be 2000 dollars to have it fixed so he tells them to fix it. Weeks go by with all the ridiculous excuses they as in aamco is telling him. Then all of a sudden they say its going to be 4500  because they said there was other things that were supposibly shot. We did not have that kind of cash so they run all our credit. My son has two jobs in two emergency rooms, and we own our own home 3rd bought house two nice cars and nome of us were good enough to finance this transmission. So we thought we will just have it towed some where else. They tell us oh no you have to pay 1500 to have it put together before its taken out of their shop. So we said ok we will take the pieces. They told us that it was against their policys to let a car go out without putting it back together. ha ha. So I guess they thought we were going to pay them 1500 for nothing! So they come up with this crap that if we give then 2000 on our debit card and our son writes out so many checks that they can put in their account every month that they will fix it. ( its funny that everyone that has looked it over since this place just hooks it up to a machine and can tell right there whats going on with the car and whats  wrong. aamco has to rip it all apart so more money in their pockets. Once they thought they had us had they started treating us like s**t. No phone calls back, no information on any thing at all . Just like they vanished and took the car with them. They finally called my son after about eight weeks later and told him it was done. He went to pick it up and was driving down the freeway and the car was rocking back and forth so bad my son thought it was going to flip over and crash. All the lights were flashing on the dash. He couldn't keep it in his lane on the freeway . He said it sounded like the engine was going to fall out on the freeway any minute. He was really freaked out. He limped it back to them . They said a bunch of lies and said they would fix it. ha ha It was going into 3 months now and still no real car! They call him again and tell him that the motor mount was cracked, the balance bar was broken, the transmission that they put in his car dosnt belong in his car. The transmission they put in was a two wheel drive and he has a four wheel drive, the rear end was not hooked up , or i guess you call it the drive line was not hooked up, transmission fluid was pouring out of it, lights were still flashing like crazy broke his transmission sensor, broke the sway bar,the struts were broken, ( i guess those are really hard to break!no rear driveline transmission mount  and thats not all of it. Oh yea one of the times my son drove it about two blocks after they said they fixed it the tire had a nail stuck in the side wall of the tire. My son had to buy another tire because of it. A couple of days before this the owner told he that he himself test drove the car 60 miles. Well that was a joke because the car was not driveable. He had to of got the nail stuck in it. There were over half the the wires not even hooked up. and they call themselves transmission specialists. What a joke. This car cost my son 17.000. At this point its not worth a plug nickle. If everyone of these people writing these storys would get together and sue them they would loose just like they did in 14 states lawsuit. Its on the website aamco scams lawsuit. The screen comes up black and then you know your in the right web site. There was over 500,000 given back to 14 states for the victims of this rip off company. We have to do something about this. my web site is (((REDACTED))).  Please write me. When they get into trouble the person that owns that aamco splits or says they split and another person says he just bought it so you have trouble serving them. Also if you give then a debit card credit card check the bank will give you the money back. We got ours back . All you have to do is tell your bank you were ripped off and they were scaming you and they will give you the money back. All banks do it. My son knew about this so we retreived it back. The only thing is that his car is still a piece of crap. I just dont understand why someone would be so evil to do this to people. How do they look in the mirror?,  CLICK here to see why Rip-off Report, as a matter of policy, deleted either a phone number, link or e-mail address from this Report.

you will not be pleased with this--and if what you say is true it sucks and i feel bad---however--it does not make sense when you think it has a "minor" problem and take it somewhere to get it looked at and come out with a bill for a transmission??--i mean come on man---if your son fell for this then either he is to stupid with vehicles and better educate his a*s or he thought it was more than a "minor" problem--------you also mention it is a 17k acura suv--i assume an MDX---but you do not get into what year exc---for 17k sounds like a recent vehicle--how many miles??--why did you leave these little important things out????---it is also known that kids bet the crap out of there cars---i hope your son is the one that bought it and not you-----however----engine mounts don't just break unless they were broken---if what you say is true---these are not good mechanics---how could you install the wrong tranny in a car??--unless you the customer authorized it-----there is just something weird here and i think a whole bunch of stupid people make for a whole bunch of stupid things happening

Always ask very specific questions of a repair shop

#3Consumer Suggestion

It seems you brought alot of this upon yourself by not being more active in asking the right questions.

Such as when you first took it in for the "free" inspection. If they couldn't get to it right away, I would have taken it somewhere else. Then, if you were to leave it, setting a time frame that you needed it back by. Have them state this on any estimate. But just dropping it and leaving it for days and weeks is your fault.

It is also obvious by your post that nobody in your family actually knows anything about vehicles. That alone opens the door to getting ripped off. Some things have to be torn apart to be properly diagnosed. You cannot just "hook up a machine" and find every possible problem with a vehicle. The computer diagnostic only finds problems where there is a sensor that sends a signal to the computer. Hard parts can't do this. Like your transmission and other driveline parts.

Don't you have a regular mechanic that you use for other things? What about an Acura dealer?

Whenever someone tells me something is "free", I always ask "how much is free going to cost me"?
