As are many owners, I'm just another statistic that DRI has little compassion for. I bought into ILX resorts in May 2004, now DRI, through high pressure tactics, with many promises and assurances, of which none have been fulfilled, other than my maintenance fee, which has continuously gone up since I bought it, from the $200's to well over $400 per year. This is for an every odd year usage of one week. Now it appears we're on some kind of point system with DRI that I neither fully understand, nor want to. I sadly paid $9k for the privilege of owning .5 / 77,600 of a one bedroom at Los Abrigados Resort and Spa, after being told I only have to pay a small maintenance fee for the week I'm using. With this said, the impression I got from the salesperson (who coincidentally told me they own Los Abrigados Resort and Spa property too) and I ask lots of questions, was that I only paid for the odd years maintenence fee, not a maintenance fee every year for the odd year usage! So, I thought I only paid $200-something for a week of vacation at a nice, NOT GREAT, resort type location, where I was assured was a safer place for my children to play, because of its exclusivity of usage by owners. As you can deduce, the "TimeShare Speak" was a bit confusing, but I had a very convincing and pushy salesperson. I was also told that Los Abrigados Resort and Spa had a great resale value and I could even make money on it if I sold after enjoying it for a few years...WRONG...I am a US Marine veteran, who at this time (May 2004) had been out of a combat zone for only a short time when I bought this thing and still a little shell shocked I think...we could go into that subject much deeper if that would/could convince a judge that I wasn't quite in my right mind when I bought this suckers deal!!!
I want out of this money pit so bad, I can taste its dirt... NOW...we have Diamond Resorts International....Who are they...WTF...I didn't buy anything from them, nor sign a confusing contract with them!!! OK, so now DRI owns ILX...what ever...I just want to get this out of my name...I'll take the $9k loss for being stupid (if I have to) as long as I can get the property (that's what I was told it is) out of my name. Everything is paid up (no fees or ANYTHING owed) and trying to get someone to tell me how to dispose of this legal and financial burden is like shooting myself in the head and putting a band-aid on it! HELP.........
