I ordered a new PC from Gateway computers on 5/7/2007. My estimated delivery date was 6/5/2007. For the first week my status remained listed as "processing" on their web page order status tracking tool. I emailed customer support and was told that their system was "probably down for maintenance", but rest assured my order was being built. This continued for nearly three more weeks, each time I was given a different excuse. "order status is being updated, check back later", "order status system is being redone, check back later", etc. Each time I was told my pc was being built and would be delivered on the date I was given.

On 6/1 I wrote them another email asking for my tracking information. If my system was to arrive on 6/5 via second day air, then they would have to ship it on that Friday. I was then told they were moving their plant from Mexico to Tennesse and that some orders were delayed, but that my order "should" still arrive on time. At that point I demanded that a supervisor call me and update me as to the status of my pc. I didn't receive a call but a "team lead" emailed me. In this email I was told that they "just found out that my pc was indeed going to be delayed". Just found out? Please. He stated that he could give me a new estimated date of delivery, but he didn't include that in the email. I had to email again and ask WHEN??? I received yet another email and was told that I would receive my pc on 7/2/2007. This would be nearly 8 weeks from when I had first ordered. I then cancelled that order. To date though my order still says "processing".

I cancelled three days ago. I will be contacting my credit card company and telling them to deny any charges by Gateway. If they would have just told me up front that they were moving locations and there was a strong possibility of delay I would have been fine with that. But they lied for nearly a month, telling me each time that my order was going to be delivered on the anticipated delivery date. I was a past customer of Gateway but I will never do business with them again.
