I bought a Gateway computer in July. I do not have great credit, so I could not get financing to buy a computer, but the man i spoke to gave me several options to consider. He gave me the total amount that would be due upon delivery, let me pick my delivery date, and sent the computer C.O.D. The great thing was, I set the delivery date for TWO MONTHS after I made the call, so I had time to save all the money for the computer. Since I recieved my computer, I have been nothing less than yhrilled with it, and since i am not exactly computer saavy, with the service and help i have recieved when calling Gateway with a question or comment. In fact, I moved a few months ago and broke one of the ports which in turn shorted out the motherboard. I called my Gateway Country Store, they told me to bring it in and the fixed it. There was no charge for this service as it was covered under my warranty. I think Gateway is a great company full of friendly and helpful people. I also think that people should check into things in detail before making a $1000.00 plus purchase. Get all the facts and you also get the upper hand. Company's can't screw with you unless you allow them too. Be an informed consumer.

People are always so quick to blame others for their problems. You should have done some shopping around first. I know I'm going to make sure I find the best deal on something before I go make a major purchase like a computer. This is at least a thousand bucks we're talking about here. It's not like buying a toaster or a microwave. And quit complaining about the fincancing people! That is YOUR fault. Each and every one of you. I would never think about fincancing a computer from anywhere. While buying a computer is not like buying a toaster of microwave, it is also not like buying a house or a car. I'm sorry but if you don't have a thousand bucks in your checking account to buy a computer with, then you simply just don't need one. I just make sure I have the money for something before I buy it. So, quit wasting your time complaining and focus on the real problem... YOU!

I too financed a Gateway Computer through Hurley State Bank and was given a three months same as cash financing program. Using a calculator, I divided by balance by three and each of the first three months before finance charges would take effect, I paid a third of the bill. After three months, the computer was paid off. The fourth month, I received a bill for interest due. I was stunned. But, I took a deep breath, and called the bank. Their rep said it was a simple mistake and that it would be taken care of. He was a man of his word. The next month their correspondence indicated I had paid in full. And I have never been billed since. Are you sure you didn't agree to buy more software or hardware than you had originally intended to, to the tune of $400. Let's save our class action suits for the tobacco companies, the pharmaceutical, and the Bush-backed energy traders.
