On july 15th, 2014, I was contacted by Ascentive via phone informing me that their online services to me would be automatically renewed thru the credit card on file w/in 1-2 weeks, & I could call them at 800-283-5841.
Since I had only used their services briefly to try to remove some Malware (I actually used another source that was free), I had written off their services as a one time deal & forgot about it.
I sent them a request on their website requesting discontinuation of services, & was expecting an email confirmation w/in the specified 24-48 hours. There was none. I then called the 800 # posted on their website- 800-424-9024, & completed the discontinuation process. I received a confirmation email shortly thereafter.
Even though this process took a little while, I'm glad I took the time to do it. I would firmly suggest that any person who engages w/ this company, who wishes to discontinue services, to check your bank account closely for any suspicious charges for a long time. Perhaps even change your account #. The reason companies like these are vultures. When a Malware infects your computer, it usually has some connection to the internet company who solicits to help you. I'll sell you the water to put out the fire!
