This was awhile ago and I used my half of my christmas money from my dad to buy my wife a PC. We found a pc from circuit city, an emachines system via the internet. Mind you when the pc got to us, I read through the rebate information and did as it said. #1 original UPC code, original pakaging codes of the pc's box and a receipt. well, duh..I bought it online. so no receipt.

So I sent all originals mind you and waited...a month or two.I finally got a letter stating since there was no "receipt" no rebate. I called the firm and spoke to someone and explained that the PC was purchased online not in store. So she tells me to write on the letter "online purchase" and send the letter back.

months pass...April 2004 I finally receive a letter from Young America that stated since we had no receipt we couldn't get the rebate. I called the firm and spoke very terse to them for their stupidity. I asked them how the hell can I produce a receipt, if I bought the d**n PC online? and to top that off, the guy tells me that he can't find me anywhere in the computer for a rebate. like they deleted me!

So stay away from Young America and buy only pc's that offer instant rebates at time of purchase not those mail-in rebates. and find out what company is handling the rebate "BEFORE" you buy said computer. Salepeople can tell you. I've sold pc's before.

So stay away from any rebates done through Young America...you'll NEVER see your rebate!

You Always Get A Receipt Whenever You Purchase Anything

Christopher,

When you buy anything online you get a receipt at the end of the transaction or the receipt is emailed to you. I know for a fact that Circuit City emails the receipts and most Circuit City rebate forms ask for a cash register receipt or email confirmation. Not all rebate forms say that though.

Circuit City rebates and Emachines rebates both go to Young America MN, so I'm not sure which one was giving you the problem. I know that if it was a rebate from Circuit City and you called the rebate center after getting the letter they would have (or could have) had the rebate processed without the receipt. The reason I say they could have is because if you were rude the the service rep you spoke with they may not have wanted to process your rebate. Remember that when you call a rebate center you are speaking to a real person. They may be having a bad day and speaking to a rude person may not make them feel like helping.

Also if you called the Ciruit City rebate center in September you may have been talking to a newly hired representative who did not know what they were doing too much.

My advice to you, Christopher, if this was a Circuit City rebate, call the Circuit City Corporate Office (1-800-251-2665, option 0 then option 2) and get the receipt information (TICKET NUMBER, DATE OF PURCHASE, MODEL NUMBER OF DESKTOP) and call back to the rebate center (1-888-213-9761) and see if you can get your rebate processed with those 3 pieces of information. As for them not finding a record of you, again, that may have been a new person who did not know what they were doing. If you do call back, try calling back with one of the letters you received if you still have them. There is usually a tracking number at the top. In your case it would probably start with 8890. . .

Hopefully you did not use your Christmas money from the Christmas of 2002 because that may be too old to process now.

If this was not a Circuit City rebate I gave you these specific instructions for nothing.
