Shame on Walmart claims company CMI ! Ridiculous service. If you buy a Walmart product that damages something you have or they damage your car this company will deny anything happened and lie to you in your face.

Defective Walmart brand batteries called EverActive leaked battery acid on to the top of my Craftsman Professional series tool chest eating away the metal and paint in two large areas. Also permanently damaging my stereo where the batteries were installed. The tool box and stereo have been permanently damaged and the lid is not available.

The article notes that alkaline battery leakage is common. I've noticed it happens most often if completely discharged and left in the powered item. Good luck, but it seems fairly common.
