I ordered the Everex PC-3280 system from the Video Computer Store (VCS) in Sept. 2000. My credit card was immediately billed for the full price of the system - $2,147. On Oct. 17, I received the monitor for the system. On Oct. 24, I received 2 postcards from VCS - one that stated my order had been processed and the other that they were experiencing delays in receiving computer systems from their distributors. I started calling Customer Service and started to get different excuses ( our computer system is down, we don't know when your order will ship, we are expecting a shipment any day now or tomorrow) about the system status. Waits to reach Customer Service began to take over an hour and I had to listen to their current promotional hype the whole time and that during "peak" periods, waits could be as long as 20 minutes.
Next I started to e-mail the company and after the first e-mail, I got the same postcard I got in Oct. about the delays, but with a Dec. 4 date. I e-mailed again complaining, since I had already been charged $75 in credit card fees but hadn't received anything except the monitor. Just before Christmas, I received an e-mail from Karen offering another system at a higher price. I didn't want that system, I wanted the Everex system I ordered. She responded that she had mistakenly sent the specs. for the wrong system and sent me specs. for their Micron Pentium system, also at a higher price. Again, I told her that I didn't want that system, I wanted the Everex package because it had the specs. that I was looking for. I also suggested that there should be some compensation for the credit card charges I had already incurred. I received an e-mail that she was requesting that accounting give me a $50 credit and informing me that I was being upgraded to their priority status (I had also mentioned filing some complaints).
I have read many stories similar to mine and maybe even worse. If the Video Computer Store can't live up to their commitments, they shouldn't be allowed to do business.

I either want my money back or I want the rest of my system and the rebates that were promised (there were many complaints about failure to receive rebates.
