"The CEO of AT&T says he can't find enough "skilled" workers in the US". What that really means is he wants to bring in more workers from overseas at half the salary. Saw a Sunday morning news show a while back. They were interviewing some IT guy from FL who was working for some company making $100K. The company brought in some kid from India to "be his assistant". The "assistant" worked with the IT guy for two years getting paid $20k per year. At the end of two years, they fire the IT guy and replace him with the "assistant" at $40k per year, saving the company $60k per year, cause the kid will work for peanuts. It's bad enough when they outsource the jobs overseas, but when the CEO's claim they can't find the "skilled" workers here in the States, THAT REALLY SUCKS.

Last year they issued something like 415,000 "skilled worker visas" cause the skills weren't suppose to be available here. What that really means is that the people with those skills, aren't willing to work for the low wages the companies are offering, like in the above example. I was out in CA in the early eighties when the Japanese companies were coming in and buying a bunch of US companies. The companies had employees who had worked for them for 20 and 30 years. making $20 to $25 per hour. Once the Japanese company bought the US company, they would fire everyone and fill those positions at $5 per hour. Salary is the biggest expense in a business. The were cutting that expense by 50 to 60% right off the bat.

What do you suggest we do about all of these companies? You'll want to add Cap Gemini Energy and Cap Gemini Consulting since both companies have minimal tech staff on shore with the majority of the tech staff off shore.
