I only wish I had seen the reports here before deciding to use this company for my store transactions! I opened a small business about 15 months ago and signed up with United Bank Card. There was alot going on at that time and I failed to notice some type of gift card promotion that was also included and was a free trial for the first 60 days or so. All of a sudden, there was a $25 withdrawal from my business account with no notice. Of course they were helping themselves already to the other normal merchant fees, but I had no idea what this $25 was for. I called to get it refunded, but to no avail. They said I had to call to cancel this program that I never even participated in simply because I was busy opening a business rather than read all their rules.

I did notice that there rates were getting to be more and more and they were charging me for other nonsense (i.e. $5 to have a statement to identify what the money was they were taking out each month), but I stuck with them. But then again, there was another $50 charge with no explanation. A month later they sent a letter saying their rates were increasing and they had taken $50 for all the merchants. I called and argued that but to no avail. I decided to cancel because I was fed up with nickel and dime nonsense and I don't have time to monitor a company that constantly has their hands in my bank account.

So I wrote a letter requesting I not be charged an early termination charge since it was their own activities that have caused my displeasure with their services and that too went unanswered. Today I looked at my bank account and there were 3 transactions to date totalling in excess of $700 with no explanation. I would guess one of the three might be the early termination charge but what the heck are the other two? Of course, I've already written asking for at least an explanation but I'm sure they won't respond to that either. It isn't for the equipment because I've already received the threat letter for that telling me they will take $450 if I do not return it timely. It would be nice if they would return some of the money they have stolen timely. Avoid United Bank Card at all costs. I have nothing good to say and I have never dealt with any company like this that just helps themselves to your money in your bank account without any notice of what it is for.

there is no accurate merchant information provided in this complaint, but I am more than happy to explain all valid charges mentioned in this complaint. The charge for giftcards can only take place if the merchant swipes the activation card they receive with the terminal. once this card is activated they get free gift cards for their customers. the terms of this activation are attached to the card.
A reference to a 50 charge is also made. this particular charge was a pci compliance charge which was a pass through charge assessed by the associations. I would like to be able to refund this charge as token of United Bank Card appreciation but no relevant info is provided. The Early termination fee is also mentioned and was assessed. This was agreed to by the merchant as well as the 450.00 charge for keeping United Bank Card's equipment. If the customer had read what they were signing this would have been a much better business relationship.
I would appreciate being able to satisfy this customer from a customer service perspective but nothing provided in this complaint gives me that opportunity.
I can be reached at chris@unitedbankcard.com

Thank you
