In june of 1999 I was in the market for a work truck, I had been to several dealers and didn't find what I was looking for. I drove by "Ugly Duckling" used cars in Mesa, Az. I noticed a nice looking red chevy full sized pickup setting there. I stopped to look at the truck, and it looked really sharp. A salesperson came out to assist me with the truck.

I told him I was looking for a work truck , but since my livelyhood depended on my truck, it had to be a good one. He then told me about the red chevy. It was stated that the truck was a 1 owner truck with 52,000 actual miles.

The truck seemed to run out good so i bought it for $13,000. I traded in a 91 chevy s-10 and was given $4,000 trade in for it. The trouble came when the dealer could not obtain a title for the new truck. The truck had been in another state and I was given a 45 day temporary tag when I bought the truck. That would give the dealer time to get a title and register the truck in Az.

The 45 days came to an end with no title or licence for the truck. I complained to the dealer and they explained there was a second lein on the title that they had not known about. I was issued a second temporary tag. When the second tag ran out and the dealer still hadden't gotten a title or licence I really started to complain.

I called the corprate offices and was told that they were working on it and would have it resolved in a few days. I reminded that my truck is how I earn a living and since I have payments to make they better get it taken care of NOW. because I am driveing on an expired temporary tag and any tickets I got I was deducting the cost from the payments.

They promised to rent me a truck till they could resolve the trouble. I never got the rental truck. When all I got from "Dirty Duck" was a bunch of excuses I got mad and called a lawyer. The lawyer ran the "vin" through the computer and found the reason the dealer was haveing trouble getting a title. The truck that the dealer sold me as a one owner 52,000 mile "box A" truck, has had atleast 6 other owners and had 58,000 miles on it when it was sold in 1995. Further examination revieled the truck is not a chevy, but a gmc and has been wrecked. It appears that the frame is bent, and the front suspention is about ready to fall out. I have filed a lawsuit against the dealer but am still stuck paying for this pile of junk.

So far the company's lawyer refuses to talk with my attorney and I am getting very, very angry at their lack of willingness to obey the law. I did get title and licence for the truck but that has been doctored too. At this point, I want ALL the money i have spent on this truck, my lawyer fees, and the $4,000 they gave me for my old truck refunded to me, plus I want a free and clear title to the truck so I can sell it to a junk yard where it belongs.

Don't ever let your self get stuck like this. Always check out a car on the net before you buy it. It was disclosed that the dealer knew the odometer had been turned back before he ever sold me the truck. If i had checked. I would have found it too, and I would have never bought from "Dirty Duck" again. But, when

I get done with them I hope "Ugly Duckling" becomes "Dead Duck" If YOU are looking for a car and am looking at the"duck" contact me at reddneckerson@netscape.net for more details
