Complaint Review: U-Haul

U-Haul Website Reservation Misleading consumer ripoff

I logged onto the U-Haul website to reserve a truck three weeks in advance of my move. I entered my information, and was given a confirmation number
for my truck.

Three days before I was set to move, U-Haul calls me to tell me that they did not have my truck and could only get me a truck, half the size I needed, three days after my move date. I was told that my confirmation number didn't entitle me to anything. Essentially, the confirmation number only "confirmed" that I had wanted a truck, not that I had a "confirmed" truck.

They offered no help. I was on my own to locate a truck three days before the Labor Day weekend (college students had most of the trucks).

After my move date, they even billed my credit card as though I had actually received a truck as had been confirmed.

To U-Haul's credit, they did back out the charge after I complained multiple times.

DO NOT use the U-Haul website. My confirmation number only "confirmed" my pending great frustration days before closing on my first house.
